For my painting I decided to make an abstract painting. It is supposed to represent my time after bonas which will be very chaotic. The blue stream represents me finding my path through it.

Connecting to earth:
For this one I made a smiley face out of flowers. I thought it made for a nice message.
Getting Your Voice Out There in Public Places
Getting Your Voice Out There in Public Places:
For this one I put up some inspirational messages in the hickey bathroom. Hopefully it made someone’s day better.
For the Keith Haring project, me Maddy, Nick, and Garrett drew on the Allegany trail.
The circle has been a symbol in art for centuries, representing concepts such as the sacred and cosmic in ancient art, perfection in Renaissance art, and abstraction in modern art. It has been used by artists to convey emotions, ideas, and aesthetics, and continues to be a versatile and enduring element in contemporary art, symbolizing unity, wholeness, and interconnectedness.
For my project I outlined myself in mud then put a log in the middle. I felt like the log displayed strength and that was a good way to represent my outline.
I redrew picture 3. It seemed like there were shapes and figures within the lines so I tried to recreate that. I also colored around it instead of inside the lines.
For my arte provera artwork, I painted a background onto a random piece of wood that I found. While the paint was still wet I attached pieces of dryer lint that I found in the trash.
This is cool, the lint looks like clouds.
For my art povera piece I painted a on old bottle I found in my basement. It was very old and trash so I thought it would be interesting to paint.
1. What's your advice on staying confident for the next generation who sees ridiculous beauty standards on social media?
Recognize that so much of what you see on social media is fake and edited. Don’t compare yourself to the people you see on social media, just be yourself as much as possible. Most of these unrealistic beauty standards are just impossible, photoshopped, and absurd.
2. How is rebelling against beauty standards a part of your life?
When I was younger I was always the guy that wore shorts year round. Although I do wear pants now I’ve always been all about comfort over style. I’ve never really been interested in dressing up and putting formal clothes on. I’m also a big sports fan so I’ve always worn sports jerseys as much as possible. I understand that these aren’t fashionable at all but they’re comfortable and I don’t really care about any standards.
3. Who is inspiring you these days to love yourself and break free from societal boxes that you may have grown up with or still experience today?
Adam Sandler. I love his fashion sense and he’s always been one of my favorite actors. He’s not afraid to dress comfortably and not care about his style.
I decided to create my background in red, using a plastic fork to create the shapes I did. I thought that it was creative and unique. My abstract mark is in light blue. I used my thumb to make a print. I made my abstract shape green. I didn’t know what shape to paint but I just started painting and that is what ended up. My one minute line got out of hand. I feel like it was a little overwhelming in the dark blue.
This was a piece I thought was cool. The idea of using a fork to paint was very unique and I never would have thought of it. It also has a blurry feel too it with the blue paint that I like.
I have included two polaroids, one developed and one not, showing my past and future. I put a picture of a campfire cooking a fish as it illustrates the outdoor lake environment of my childhood. The cross , Smithsonian, and large picture of the old fort in Alaska help demonstrate my identity and interests in history. Minor additions to this show other attributes that make up my life like Toyota being a car brand I drive every day, or the emblem for Saint Bonaventure showing where I have come to call home.
This piece is another that I liked. I also had an outdoor lake element in my childhood so that was cool. The cooked fish also looked delicious and I would like to try it.
My collage includes pictures that represent different aspects of my personality. There is a lot of pictures of nature, which reminds me of my childhood and my future. After I graduate I’m working in environmental education and a lot of these pictures are representative of that. I also added the picture of the dog and fireworks because they remind me of good times and good friends.
I liked this collage a lot. It was similar to mine because it had outdoor themes used in it and I felt like I could connect to it because of that.
For my digital abstract painting I wanted to make something colorful. I used Snapchat to paint it on my phone then copied it on canvas. I thought the contrast between the pattern in the colors and the randomness in the shapes was interesting. It also looks like something I have seen before, but I’m not sure if there is something else that looks like this.
I started with the blue splashing it on the canvas. I then made a mark with the red paint. After I made a shape with the black that was similar to a star but slightly different. Then I finished with the pink line.
For my collage I included Bonaventure and graduation caps under it because I am about to graduate from here. I included a man in cowboy boots because it reminded me of when I used to work on my grandfather’s farm. I used a photo of someone cooking because that is one of my favorite activities as well as a photo of someone playing disc golf.
I chose the color red for my collage. It was the color that stood out to me the most when I was looking through my magazine.
