[A small smile slipped onto Mecaria’s lips as she took a sip of her drink.] Personally, I always thought I deserved Slytherin more than either of my siblings. There must have been something really off with it my year. Charlotte Gray got into Slytherin and I didn’t.
Charlotte Gray is completely insufferable. I'd rather you in Slytherin than both your siblings.

[Mecaria faltered, realizing that she’d been more honest with Nathalie in this one conversation than she had to anyone else in her fifteen years of life. Its not that Father particularly likes Asteria or Jacen, he just expects more from them. They are the perfect pureblood children, all work, no play. Plus there’s the fact that they’re in Slytherin and I somehow got sorted into Hufflepuff. And I made the unfortunate mistake of dating a halfblood last year. Really, there’s a number of things.

My father doesn’t give a damn who I spend my time with, he’s made that clear. Now, if Jacen or Asteria- especially Asteria- if they started hanging around anything less than purebloods, then Daddy dearest might get concerned. I, on the other hand, have always been a disappointment.

I feel somewhat emasculated since I prefer butter beer to whiskey, but I shall get over it. Well, I don’t know about that, perhaps I’ll ask her why she’s not happy. [Smirks and takes a sip of his butter beer before answering] No-one you would think important enough to remember, I’d wager.
I presume the reason she's unhappy is because you're talking to me and not her. You know she's been stealing quite a few glances at you in between serving her customers. [Turning away from the barmaid and facing him, she shrugged.] Well, if you'd rather me calling you something rude or unpleasant, that's fine by me.

[Mecaria shrugged in response to Nathalie’s comment.] My dad usually just leaves me alone. I don’t think he even knows I’m not at home right now.
He has great parenting skills. [She took a sip of her whiskey before setting it back down on the counter.] My father is quite like yours, he leaves me be and lets me do whatever I want, but under one condition. See, my father's all for blood purism, so as long as I don't associate myself with filthy little muggleborns, I'm free to do whatever I like.

You're no fun. [She tossed a few galleons on the counter with a small smirk.] My parents just leave me alone half the time. Really, it's better than having them breathe down your neck every five seconds.
