Size: 18W x 24L
This is a painting done of my friend all dressed up for a fun 1920's party.
Toy Thoughts
Year: 2011‐2012
Medium: mixed media ‐ acrylic and marker
Size: 22W x 15L
When people see this piece, they always ask me about the toys (yes, they're mine and yes I still have them). The still‐ life observation was surrounded by my various doodles ‐ whatever came into my mind at the time was drawn right then and there.
Hallucinations
Year: 2011‐2012
Medium: mixed media ‐ watercolor, acrylic, and markers
Size: 15W x 20L
I loved Diego Rivera's 'The Canyon' but I was also inspired by Georgia O' Keeffe's work for this piece. The contrast between life and death captivated me. I made the dead elements of the painting more unconventional by adding fashion elements. To continue the contrast life and death, I used butterflies.
A Tree's Story
Year: 2011‐2012
Medium: mixed media ‐ acrylic and marker
Size: 15W x 22L
This started out as only an observation study but it became so much more in the span of a year. The tree naturally had a shape resembling a hand grasping at it, so I played up with the human grasp on nature.
Self Portrait
Year: 2011‐2012
Medium: mixed media ‐ acrylic and marker
Size: 18W x 24L
This is a self portrait of myself. I drew inspiration from Gustav Klimt as seen in the pattern on my shirt; inspiration was also taken from Japanese culture as seen in the clouds and the waves. The split in the background serves as my own commentary on mankind's destructive habits towards nature.
