I like to think that Donovan has a very friendly exterior that he tends to display to everyone but his family members. He frequently deals orders with an inoffensive smile and rarely lets anything sour his face with a frown.

The times in which he looks as cold hearted as he feels are rare, but they're not that rare when it comes to his family members. It's actually reversed because of his entitlement towards them.

The Demonds belong to him. They're not their own people. They represent the household that was once the most powerful family in the country, so of course he holds them to an impossible standard.

He isn't above blackmailing his own 6 year old son. Maybe that's why Melinda hates him so much?

The way the man in the middle moved gave Yor pause, an instinct of hers screaming that there was something wrong...especially when his voice kept flipping tones. His eyes and expression were just kind of... off. Not that she doubted she could defend herself effectively against him and his guards, she'd taken down bigger targets, but his presence in the room sent a chill down her spine, especially when his gaze locked on her.

The way he kept saying her last name set her teeth on edge as if the word was some kind of hiss to it. An edge that made her want to find Anya and run away.

An apology? Yor thought before it clicked. There was only one child that Anya had any kind of altercations with. Damian. Melinda's son.

And if this man was Damian's father...

"A-are you Damian's father, sir?" She inquired, probably a bit stupidly. "If so, then yes. Our children had an altercation on the first day of classes." Much to her husband's dismay. She had been upset since she had taught Anya that punch. She bowed her head slightly, pressing her hands together before her. "A-And I truly apologize. I instructed her in self-defense and taught her that punch."

Even if Melinda had brushed off her apology, it didn't mean that she shouldn't try to make amends with Damian's father. What is his name?

She searched her memory. there was something very important about Melinda...some kind of title... Oh right. First Lady. A title she hadn't understood. Didn't get it. One that Loid had been surprised by. Others might have been suspicious of her lack of knowledge, and lack of possible decorum. Was she acting too odd? She stepped a bit away from the man, unsure of what to do next. Oh, how she wished she hadn't gotten separated from Loid. He would know what to do!

A tight smile creased Donovan's eyes upon being recognized. It was as he suspected. Through the mountain of piling work, he afforded himself the time to request information on the Forgers. It was a typical background check that didn't herald anything suspicious about the members pertaining to it, but he had to give it to them for managing to approach him and his estranged family so easily. And so often.

Fate must play a favorable card for the Forger family. Especially since he's heard that Yor Forger was in cahoots with his wife. Melinda never mentioned her, of course. The outpour of information came from other sources, mainly from word of mouth and weekly reports he skimmed over from his personal assistants handling the work of his spies. The mention of their surname had been gracing his eyes enough times to arch himself a brow... it was enough to make him actually want to converse with them.

See what they want.

See if they're worth disposing of.

Quietly, of course.

Perhaps by sending them off on a nice trip to Hugaria's guillotine at that dazzling five star hotel in the capital, but, oh, he was getting ahead of himself again. One can never be too careful, they say.

"Nonsense! It's all in good faith!" amusement reached the higher pitch of his giggling tone, his face, marred by deepening wrinkles, beaming with the same cheery nonchalance that his wife displayed back when she swatted Mrs Forger's apology.

"What an incredible deja vu I am experiencing! Why, I recall your husband's heartfelt apology like it happened yesterday! Unfortunately, I couldn't stay too long to have a chat with him, although I could tell that he was quite eager to have one with me. In fact, I find it quite enthralling that my family has had such interesting entanglements with yours! Tell me, madam, is it true you get on quite well with my dearest Melinda?" @yorprincess2

"What an incredibly rough choice of words," the Desmond patriarch sounded from a meager few feet off to the side. For once, as it wasn't customary, the man had waved off his servicemen to scatter from his vicinity. Of course, one ought to be wiser than think he was completely alone. Their fingers rested on the outline of their guns, as their gaze peered through the foliage descending from the trees and bushes that stood as a weak obstacle between their aim and their target. "I thought the job of a psychiatrist involved dealing out mind altering drugs next to chatting about feelings. Am I to understand your field is far more competitive than I imagined?"

I was only gone for a few minutes! Yor thought as she frantically scanned the rather crowded Eden College event. Tensely, she nodded toward other parents as she passed, trying not to appear too panicked after getting separated from her daughter and husband. Unlike the time when she lost Anya at the pet adoption fair, she couldn't justify jumping to the rafters to find her family in the crowd - it wouldn't be elegant, especially not in the dress Loid had gotten her for the event (a dark blue floor-length, off the shoulder with a mid-thigh slit evening gown).

Eventually, she made it to the edge of the room, where fewer people milled about and where she may be able to spot her husband's blonde hair. Thank heavens he so ta- She thought just as she ran into someone.

"Step away, Ma'am," A barely polite, extremely serious voice stated firmly from her right and she turned to see a phalanx of four men around a very tall fifth.

The man in the middle held her attention as she stumbled back a bit. He was tall, nearly as tall or perhaps taller than Loid, with dark hair cut extremely close to the sides of his head and a matching mustache. But what startled her were the scars on either side of his head...and the uncanny wideness of his eyes, boring into her.

"I'm terribly sorry." She apologized to the man whom she had run into, her eyes continuously flicking to the man in the center, and realized she had somehow made it into a room off the main hall where the gathering was taking place. "I was trying to find my husband. P-Perhaps you have seen him? He's tall, with blonde hair, and would be with our daughter - a little girl with strawberry pink hair? His name is Loid Forger."

"Mmm... Forger." The man in the middle of the row hummed with a straightening stance that squared his shoulders with a long inhale. From the quick roll of his eyes one would think he was throwing a glance around the room to seek someone having the given description. Of course, that was far from the truth. Desmond was merely humoring the stray woman without actually paying much attention to his surroundings. That's why he had security surrounding him all the time - it allowed him to simply shrug his shoulders and put on a friendly smile without needing to exert too much paranoia.

"Can't say I have!" said the man in a cheery tone, but he couldn't deny that the name had a familiar resonance that piqued Donovan's interest to dig a little deeper.

"Oh, wait. Forger, was it?" He inched in past the security whose focus heightened on selected parts on the woman's body. They carefully surveilled her for unusual behavior in her body language as Donovan breached the gap between them and halted at a respectable distance from her. He kept his arms behind his back with one finger jutted out as a sign for his men to stay put.

"That name does ring a bell... Hmm... You might just be in luck as I do recall meeting your husband once." He raised a hand to his forehead and squinted his averting gaze in feigned thought. "Refresh my memory, madam... have our children had any... eventful meetings? I believe your husband approached me with an apology..."

Half-lidded eyes tore from the fruit in his hand, grabbed from a nearby basket at the academy's cafeteria. Standing in his field of vision was a little pink haired girl, probably a year or two younger than his youngest son... ah, but what does he know about children? She donned the same uniform the other students did, so she must be old enough to be signed up.

"What, an apple?" He quipped, head cocking to the side with a brow arched.

If you ever suspect you're on his bad side, asking him about it, bargaining to save your life or trying to figure out his intentions in any capacity will prove itself a fruitless endeavor. Donovan won't give you an answer, but you might get pulled over by a car one day and have gasoline poured through your window while you're cuffed to the steering wheel.

Also, as per the latest chapter, it seems that Donovan and Melinda live separately both from each other and their children... dang.

Being a politician, Donovan talks like a politician. He beats around the bush, is deliberately vague and draws poetic comparisons instead of speaking his mind directly.

Donovan never kills people directly. His henchmen/bodyguards do it for him. This is to maintain his track record pure as he believes that not being the direct aggressor grants him immunity against the law. He also doesn't deal direct orders, and expects his men to read between the lines.
