This shouldn't have been the way he realizes that he should've been more careful. If he reacts now - if he moves a muscle - then he would have to acknowledge not just her presence, but also her question.

There's too much blood splattered around to lie to her. And his bloodied knuckles didn't come from cuts indented into his skin... the blood that dripped at his feet wasn't his. "Get out," came out harsher than intended. It loosened the dam he'd crafted over the past decade which destroyed any chance he's had at reigning in an oncoming flood of fury. "NOW! GET OUT!"

Half-lidded eyes tore from the fruit in his hand, grabbed from a nearby basket at the academy's cafeteria. Standing in his field of vision was a little pink haired girl, probably a year or two younger than his youngest son... ah, but what does he know about children? She donned the same uniform the other students did, so she must be old enough to be signed up.

"What, an apple?" He quipped, head cocking to the side with a brow arched.
