all the blues today
one of my favorite things about the book version of howl’s moving castle is the part where they have to move all the doors and end up opening a flower shop, my other favorite thing is that instead of howl being a noble raven warrior in a foreign land who uses his flippant exterior to hide his angst his Big Secret is that he has a fucking welsh accent
My favorite part of the howls moving castle book is that Sophie’s power is to make things happen by talking at them. She literally has he power of magical anthropomorphism.
One of my favourite things about the book version of Howl’s Moving Castle is when Sophie and Michael decide to do something stupid together and screw everything up. Also: Sophie’s sass, Calcifer’s little song and drunk Howl.
One of my favorite things about the book version of Howl’s Moving Castle is them going to Wales and Howl being an unemployed man who got a doctorate in something useless, and so used it to scarper off to an alternate dimension where he could be a fancy wizard, but no one knows that he’s a fancy wizard at home.
my favorite part is that Sophie’s reign of terror is just her angrily cleaning everything in sight
One of my favorite parts of the book is the Martha and Lettie subplot, and the way they are just completely the nicest and most supportive stepsisters to each other.
My favorite part is how Howl is a big vain attention-seeking drama queen who has cultivated a reputation for evil so hopefully he won’t have to do any work, and how Sophie gets old and is like “a ha, now I can be as bossy and nosy and rude direct as I want”, and how the book just basically has no desire to teach them to be super nice, perfect, flawless people so long as they’re happy with themselves and and get shit done.
my favorite part of the book is that the scarecrow guy makes ANY FUCKING SENSE
