Doodledex… just kidding, it’s Digidex.

It is past midnight here in the Eastern timezone, which means it is officially April Fool’s Day for me, and I haven’t uploaded art in a hot minute so you’re getting the post now! And believe it or not, this year’s Digimon is (one of) the highest level(s): Mega/Ultimate! (Not English “Ultimate”, which is “Perfect” in Japanese. This is what happens when your naming system and translations are based on a virtual pet that (originally) didn’t go past five stages.)

MarineAngemon typically dislikes combat, and would prefer to make its “opponents” lose their will to fight through its special move “Ocean Love” so it wins by default! Despite its name, this tiny Mega-level Digimon is actually totally unrelated to the other “Angemon-species”… but its Holy Ring suggests it’s still holy in some way! (Considering it’s a part of the Virus Busters group, that’s pretty likely!)

I believe we all know and love MarineAngemon

While it has Angemon in its name, it is not actually related to the Angemon-species.

It appears to be based on Sea Angels, which its original v-pet sprite resembles a lot.

Something that is often ignored in other media, probably for convenience, but you can see in its official Digimon Reference Book artwork, is that its supposed to be slightly translucent, much like our real life Sea Angels.

Some of you may remember that almost 10 years ago I ran an ask blog for Joe. It was active enough that I still regret all the questions I never got to! Sadly I deleted it long ago, but I wish I hadn’t. I’m sure it’s still on some internet archive somewhere. I’ve been thinking on this for a while now so I decided to do a redraw
