I wondered if you went off with another girl because I told you I didn’t want to play along anymore once I moved to the big smoke. Summer was a fun game of tag. A chase between you and I. An ending I could see, but perhaps you didn’t. When you suggested meeting up after the summer, even once I returned back to the city, I was taken aback. I told you this was just a summer thing, this wasn’t to hold onto into the colder months. And so you grabbed the closest girl you could find and I was ashamed you were so easy to hook, all it took was a younger girls attention and a sly late night call. If I had known you were so easy to find company with, I never would have looked twice. Or perhaps if I had dared to look closer I could’ve seen how easy and usual you really were from the beginning.
