“Hey-!” Oh it’s just Sal. Callie had forgotten she’d given him the keycode. She lowers her splattershot, standing in her pajamas with her hands on her hips. “…its like 3 in the morning, dude!”

Sal continues stirring the pancake batter mix for several moments before he processes what Callie had said.

He looks up over to her.

He looks tired.

“Oh, yeah... yeah, I thought you came back from the Valley tomorrow?” He looks down at the mix and squints at it. “I was gonna have some of these ready for when you got back.”

“Yeah…” She’d spent a lot of time in the Valley, she knew that the Octarians didn’t want to be pitied. They’d survived incredibly well for the conditions they’d been forced into, proud of what they’d built. The last thing they wanted was to be seen as a bunch of refugees. “It’s not like I’m showing them fancy beach houses. It’s stuff that even I think is absurd. Like reality shows… There’s this little band of octotroopers who love competitive cooking shows and they kept coming to see me while I was staying down there, asking to watch with me.” She smiles to herself. 

Sal looks back over to Callie, nodding along at first. But then she mentions reality tv and for some reason it just... gets to him. He stumbles in the middle of his step, throwing his hands up to his face, and starts giggling into them. For some reason, the thought of reality shows being big down here just sounded so absurd and ridiculous, and he just couldn’t take it. But it did fit in very well with his experiences of their culture.

He jogs lightly behind Callie for a couple moments, laughing into his hands. At last he gets himself under control. “Y- yeah, I can see them liking that sort of thing. Which ones did you show them already? Any episodes from the one where they wear hollowed-out melons and do other weird tasks while cooking?”
