swatching all the inks i own!

diamine - alexandrite

color: saturated dark teal blue with magenta sheen.

properties: can stain some items (such as your dip pen). no shading, no shimmer, a decent amount of sheen.

water-resistance: not at all.

this is the first Actually sheening ink i bought, and i didn't even know it has sheen until it got home. i tried my best capturing it in the second image.

i love drawing with it (and looking at it mesmerized like how a baby watches cocomelon), but i only use a dip pen with it since it stains so much! i have to be careful using this near my things.

sailor - manyo nagi

color: muted, dusty green.

properties: medium to dry flow, no sheen nor shimmer.

water-resistance: it's alright, i guess.

i heard a person from youtube say this was a muted blue... so right now i am currently questioning my brain and color receptors as i thought this was a very cool-toned green.

sailor - yurameku amamoyoi

color: muted sage green (hints of brown) with very nice peach pink shading.

properties: multi-shading ink, yippee! dry-ish flow, no sheen nor shimmer.

water-resistance: no.

i surprisingly haven't used this as often as i'd like to... but it's very pretty, good for journal writing!

color: cool-toned blue with a slight hint of violet. a little pink sheen.

properties: medium shading. wet flow, no sheen nor shimmer.

water-resistance: unfortunately, nope.

I LOVE THIS INK! i enjoy quite a lot of inks with cool tones, and this one is the epitome of cool-toned. i love using it with my broad nib fountain pen with this!

i don't really see the pink sheen when i draw with this with any kind of pen ever, but when swatching the ink, it appears, and i find that really cool.

wearingeul - jane eyre

color: neutral-toned grape purple.

properties: little to medium shading, no sheen nor shimmer. medium to dry flow.

water-resistance: surprisingly, good enough!

this is such a beautiful purple ink. the flow of it makes it really nice for dip pens, but i kind of found it mid to use with fountain pens (skipping happens sometimes).

i'd still keep it, though, since the color is just too lovely, and i enjoy drawing with it whenever i use it with my dip pen!

sailor - manyo haha

color: very light sky blue with slight lavender shading.

properties: multi-shading ink! slightly dry flow, no sheen nor shimmer.

water-resistance: nope.

this is the first light ink i bought, and i consider it one of the prettiest inks ever made by sailor! i don't recommend using it on finer nibs, though, as the flow of it is a little dry.

ferris wheel press - candy marsala

color: midtone wine red.

properties: very wet flow, no sheen nor shimmer. good for fountain pens, not so much for dip pens.

water-resistance: no.

the moment i found out how wet the flow of this ink was, i immediately put it in a fountain pen that tends to skip and hard start often. the result: a perfect match! i love the color so much, and i plan on getting more colors from this ink brand.

sailor - shikiori yuki-usagi

color: cool-toned blue-gray with warm brown (and sometimes brick red!) shading.

properties: multi-shading ink! wet flow, no sheen nor shimmer.

water-resistance: i'm shocked this can kind of survive water. the gray completely washed out, leaving the blue hue of this ink.

this is the prettiest ink i have ever doodled with! no thoughts except i'm buying a full bottle of this in the future.

sailor - manyo fuji

color: neutral-toned purple, with dark blue green shading.

properties: dual-shading, no sheen nor shimmer. decent flow, sometimes leaning dry.

water-resistance: nope.

this was an impulsive choice, but absolutely not a regret buy! i loved using it for drawing.

sailor - yurameku byakuya

color: light green-toned gray with pink (almost like a light lavender) shading.

properties: high, multicolored shading, no sheen nor shimmer. decent flow, sometimes leans dry.

water-resistance: not at all.

best. journaling. ink. no one can read my secrets but me when i use this ink to write (perhaps even i won't be able to read what i wrote using this ink when i turn 100)! it also means it's not good for doodling, as i prefer mid-tone inks for that. despite its lightness, i can still see how beautiful the shading this ink has.

wearingeul - hwanung

color: cloudy pastel blue

properties: little shading, no shimmer nor sheen, decent flow, not too wet, not too dry.

water-resistance: it may look like it survived here, but it's usually not water-resistant.

i tend to use light inks for journaling (i live with nosy people), and i got this for exactly that purpose, especially when used with my pilot kakuno (the M nib is very fine). it's a bit one-dimensional for my liking, though, so i don't think i'll be getting a full bottle of this.

sailor - shikiori zaza

color: warm-neutral muted blue

properties: low to medium shading, has a very, very slight red sheen when swatched. wet flow, but still usable for dip pens.

water-resistance: kinda surprised the doodle was still intact, despite some ink washed off.

i saw a fellow artist draw with this ink and it was such a nice shade of blue that i had to get it! a lot of people used to ask what ink i most frequently use for doodling(and journaling), and it's this!

majohn - xiaochongshan

color: midtone warm moss green.

properties: medium shading, no sheen nor shimmer. slightly dry flow.

water-resistance: ...no.

this is one of the first inks i purchased when i started getting into fountain pen inks. personally, i was hoping it was lighter and had more yellow tones (a la teranishi guitar emotional olive) but that's on me for impulsively buying things in the past. over time, i've grown to like the moss green color, and i wasn't surprised when a lot of people asked for the name of this when i used it for my doodles!

pilot - iroshizuku kiri-same

color: neutral-toned gray with tiny hints of pink.

properties: medium shading, no sheen nor shimmer. wet flow, but still usable for dip pens.

water-resistance: surprisingly, it did survive water, the doodle can still be seen! some ink washed away, though.

this is one of my favorite inks of all time, and it's really good to use with both fountain pens and dip pens for an ink with such a wet flow. i got really sad when i found out that this ink got already discontinued... just when i started to get into fountain pen inks?! anyway, i'm getting a big bottle of it if i ever find one somewhere.
