Nyctus was gone. Nava didn't know where he was, if he left or was hurt or- he didn't know. But it hurt-
He needed to talk to someone. Maybe Sura would know where Nyctus was, or why he was gone.
Maybe Kosi could calm him down, just talk for a while.
He-
He wasn't sure he wanted to be a weapon anymore. But he was so close to going back, becoming one again.
He made his way towards the lair, focused on not letting the grief overwhelm him yet.
When he got there, he shifted back to a humanoid form and knocked, hoping it was Sura or Rasine who would answer.
( @supervillain-offical )
*opens the door, expression simply guarded*
What do you want?
Nava growled softly, but quickly cut it off.
"Sura- I need to talk to them. Or Rasine or Kosi, I guess- preferably Sura."
*hesitates*
Right-
I-I’m not sure-
I…I think it would be best if I tagged along with you-
If you really must see Sura-
"No," he responded, immediately.
*Savi frowns*
So you actually expect me to just let you walk off with Sura without any supervision?
*snorts*
Good day.
*moves to close the door*
"Wait- i didn't say no supervision, I said not you," he said, grabbing the door.
Who else would you propose?
"Zoya's here, isn't she-? And I've sworn not to hurt Sura while here, haven't I? Sworn on Zoya, I can't break that. I need to talk to them."
*hesitates*
I-maybe-
But why can’t I supervise?
"I don't like you. I don't trust you. You don't trust me, either."
Eh, well, at least you’re honest.
"Yes. I'm trying to show you that I do not mean to hurt them. I could've gotten through the door the moment you opened it, gotten to Sura before you could react well. I did not. Let me talk to Sura."
( @supervillain-offical no pressure)
I-
*hesitates*
I-I do appreciate that-
But-
They’re still a child-
I know some of what you did to Rasine when you were children-
I’ll be a bit wary, though I appreciate your efforts nonetheless.
You-you said you wanted Zoya to come?
Nava tensed at the mention of what he had done to Rasine, growling again.
"I said I wouldn't object to Zoya coming."
*rolls eyes*
No need to get so defensive!
*still, he’s tight as well*
I-I’ll go get Sura and Zoya-
(Zoya is not in the lair. I'm not sure when she left but she is staying with Yara again. In a cave.)
He stopped growing again, though he still glared.
"Good. May I come in?"
(Oh-)
*hesitates, then nods and opens the door*
Nava stepped in quickly, visibly anxious, but also visibly trying to hide it.
"Lead the way."
*Savi nods*
Stairs or elevator?
"..stairs." he muttered.
Alright then. This way.
*leads the way toward the stairs*
Nava nodded and followed, his tail flicking slightly, agitated.
Sura was already on their way up the stairs, and met Nava and Savi on the first underground level.
"Savi! Zoya isn't here. Kosi's in our room, can we go somewhere else instead?"
Nava seemed vaguely surprised.
*Savi hesitates*
Oh-
I don’t-
Are-are you sure I can’t come?
"I'm sure," Nava growled.
"You can come if you're quiet and don't interrupt," Sura suggested.
Nava hesitated, then nodded slightly. "Fine."
*Savi nods, relieved*
I’ll do that.
"The living room-? Or we can go to the park nearby- or..?" Sura looked at Savi.
( @supervillain-offical could we mayhaps continue this one..?)
(Sure!)
*hesitates*
The park is fine.
Nava glared slightly, though not at anything in particular, and he was trying not to show it.
Sura nodded. "Alright. Walking is fine for you, Savi?"
Yeah, I’ll just-
Be right behind you.
Sura nodded and started walking, leading the way
Nava walked right beside them, and started talking softly, too soft for Savi to hear, as they were walking. Sura's responses were audible, though.
"I think we should wait until we get there-"
Nava muttered something else.
"I didn't say that."
*snaps*
I want to be able to hear what you’re saying to them, Nava.
Nava growls, glaring back at Savi.
"You said you wouldn't interrupt."
*raises eyebrows*
Oh now you speak up.
Yeah. I won’t as long as I can hear what you’re saying.
Nava clenched his fists, turning back to Sura.
"Speak louder. He's right."
Nava growled a little louder, but continued speaking, loud enough for Savi to hear- but he was speaking in latin. It was unclear if either of the shifters had noticed- Sura responded also in latin.
"Vivitne? Dic mihi."
"Dixi tibi ut exspectares. Non omnia scio."
*takes a breath, tightly*
I need to be understand what you’re saying.
"I'm asking about something that is none of your business."
Then you can leave and Sura can go back to the lair with me.
Sura’s under my protection and not yours for a reason.
You have a record of intentionally hurting children.
"We're the same age- don't act like you know exactly what happened."
He was growling again, but took a breath.
"I won't hurt Sura. I swear on Zoya, I will not touch Sura in any way during this conversation."
I do know what happened. Which is why I’m not leaving you alone with Sura.
And that’s all good and great and all but I still need to be able to hear and understand what you’re saying.
"Fine."
He took a breath, turning back towards Sura.
".. How's Kosi doing?"
"Fine. Ze's been reading a lot. And learning to shift better."
*listens quietly*
"..And Rasine?"
"I don't see him as often, but.. decent as far as I can tell."
*tightens but remains quiet*
He went quiet for a moment, waiting until they were completely in the park.
"Tell me now."
He sounded almost desperate, though trying to hide it.
"I need to be- I told you, I don't know everything! I don't know right now, I might be able to figure it out by examining the strings, but I can't do that while we're walking!" They sounded frustrated at the assumption that they just knew.
*mutters to himself*
They’re just a child.
Nava growled softly again at Savi's remark.
"I know that."
Nyctus was gone. Nava didn't know where he was, if he left or was hurt or- he didn't know. But it hurt-

"Quiet, isn't it?" A voice calls from somewhere but also nowhere, clinging to Nava's mind like mildew.
"The loneliness."
@loneliness-offical
Nava froze, looking around, having been wandering alone again, clinging to sanity.
"He's alive. I can tell by the crushing guilt I've been detecting. He might just be more lonely than I am! And I didn't think that was possible. I'm practically isolated, haha! Ha... Oh, by the way, the Endless Halls needs you. It's crumbling. You're now its rightful guardian! Congratulations!"
Where-- Where is that coming from?
"Nyctus is alive?
...I'm what?!?"
He stood straighter, panicked, looking around to orient himself. He hadn't been paying attention to where he was.
"Oh! And Helio's been trying to track you so he can apologize and try to figure out what happened! But ohhh boy, he is hurting! It's kind of amusing, actually. He fiiiiinally regrets something. Oh, did you know his last action before dying was to save Nyctus? He actually did something good! Wow! Anywho you should really go back to the Endless Halls before it collapses entirely."
"Fuck-"
He shifted quickly into a bird, flying high, heading in the direction of the Halls.
Or.. at least.. the direction he was pretty sure the Halls were.
"You're off by about fifty degrees east. Meh. Shouldn't be too far off."
Nava corrected his course, not seeming to be able to talk in this form.
"You went quite far away, you know. I'm a little worried you won't make it in time!"
Vigil completely disregards Nava's inability to speak as a bird.
Nava made a vaguely upset sound, shifting into a faster bird. Though he seemed slightly unsteady in his flight, he did move faster.
"...He's doing what he can to stabilize it. But Nyctus was its guardian, not him. It only responds but so much. He thinks it's still Nyctus."
Nava very briefly shifted eyes all around his form, trying to see where the voice was coming from, but he didnt slow down as he did.
"You're looking outside. I'm in your mind. Not some external voice with a physical form. You're the first person to pick up my signal! Yay!"
Nava removed the eyes, focusing more on flying steady and fast.
He was faster than any bird should've been.
"At this speed, you might just make it!" Vigil sounds like he's grinning.
Nava went a little faster, though he also became more unsteady in the air.
"Don't push yourself TOO hard or you won't make it at all."
Nave made a vaguely upset noise again.
"Helio is buying what time he can. You have a bit. Seriously, don't overexert yourself."
He slowed just the slightest bit, getting more steady.
"I wish I could help you."
Nava tilted his head slightly, just for a moment.
"Not many people survived the Collapse."
Nava growled- it was unclear how he did so as a bird.
Vigil makes a confused noise.
"I didn't know non-corvid-or-parrot birds could growl?"
Nava seemed satisfied with himself that he confused Vigil. He flew slightly faster again.
"You're strange..."
Nava briefly growled again, before focusing on remaining steady and fast while flying.
"Quiet, isn't it?" A voice calls from somewhere but also nowhere, clinging to Nava's mind like mildew.
"The loneliness."
@loneliness-offical
