The gaming convention was supposed to be a trip for one. Daeyeon the bought the passes for the weekend with someone else because it was cheaper. He caught a ride with someone because parking charges were ridiculous. The explanations piled up, slowly but surely, and it all resulted in him attending with Kiyul. Both of them shuffled their feet behind the mass of people who were also on their way into the main exhibit hall.
Panes of glass hovered in rows along the walk way. Each of them displayed the program and showcase itinerary. Some newcomers stood in front of the panes as the hologram hostess dressed up as the retro character, D.Va, walked them through the schedule.
Itâd be a cute sight if they werenât clogging up an area that was already congested. Daeyeon rolled his eyes. Even the tiles below their feet that glowed with every footstep couldnât take the edge off the annoyance of how long it took for them to pick-up their badges.Â
âIâm surprised nobodyâs recognized you yet and asked for a self-gram,â he remarked, trying to pass time with some conversation.Â
Daeyeonâs email inbox was full again. Follow up after follow up, all of them dated less than 24 hours apart. The most recent one came adorned with a cherry on top. The subject title now read â**URGENT** Case 4983-Bâ. He clicked on it, sighs lining his lips and eyes rolling back. It was the same request for an updated report on the corpse that they received at the beginning of the week. His supervisorâs name showed up in the CC field. Shit.
He locked his computer and grabbed his empty mug. If he had to leave the lab to go upstairs, he might as well refill his mug in the break room. Talking to any of the investigators and officers always required an extra caffeine boost.
Upstairs was always a strange part of the department for him. It wasnât tranquil like the autopsy room or sterile like the labs. Everything bustled and chattered. Every mind and mouth ran miles and miles, waiting for nobody to catch up. He took a turn from the break room towards the K9 enforcersâ desks. At her desk was Hyeryun (no doubt working on more emails to bug forensics).Â
âHey,â he started off. âI got your request to look at case 4983-B. Again.â The word dropped off at the end of this breath and became smothered by the air. It was barely audible but it was there. âI already updated the file with photos. The evidence techs are still working on finishing up the last request for this case. I canât rush this any further. I know you need a lead for this victim or whatever but my hands are tied.â

daeyeonâs parents were a hot mess together. his mom left and his dad worked too much so his grandparents raised him. they were definitely old farts who were too conservative for him even if they were nice
he rebelled in every way he can. the teenage years were a wild, unhealthy whirlwind. his grandparents tried to get him on the right track of lifeÂ
he gives up easily. gave up on being a surgeon so wanted to be a nurse. gave up on being a nurse and wanted to be a coroner. that last one actually stuck bc he came across a nice coroner lady, taehee, who actually saw potential in him.

taehee was actually pretty renowned so she was transferred from one location to another often. she took him with her every time so that he can shadow and learn from her. she even took him to korea but noticed he was losing motivation. so she cut the metaphorical umbilical cord and kicked him out the nest

personality-wise, he was always a weird fucking kid. he was the type of kid who either made mud pies then ate them or tried to explain black holes to you because he read it in his grandparentâs encyclopedias
now heâs less explicitly in your face but still kinda overbearing. mostly shy but likes to feel in control by oversharing information
can be found hanging out in a local tattoo parlor, pc cafe, or a convenience store. he kinda never sleeps and gets hungry at 4am so he will wander around for food until he ultimately slurps down ramen at a 7-11
is prompt... ly 5 minutes late to work usually because he constantly underestimates how long his morning makeup routine takes. thank god for the clock-in grace period
heâs pretty soft even if he has a âcoldâ demeanor. he cries every time someone dies of cancer in a drama
