in light of the current events and whatβs been happening in the rpc i would like to redirect your attention to what really matters, and also make a quick psa. stop marketing your group and your platform as a safe environment for people of color for your own personal gain, itβs not funny, itβs not a trend, and i didnβt think iβd have to say but itβs not a JOKE. educate yourself in the matter, learn, and apologize. admit your mistakes and learn from it.Β
if your timeline β that being either here on tumblr, twitter, instagram, facebook etc β isnβt talking about it, then you are certainly following the wrong crowd. NOBODY is staying quiet about the issue, we are all in for justice.Β
here are so good resources where you can find information about what is happening in the united states and that is pushing other places around the world to protest and not simply stand up against, but completely FIGHT and dismantle this archaic system and its rooted institutionalized racism.Β
this carrrd is the one everyone is sharing, with information about the protests, donations sources and petitions.Β
this one is being constantly updated and itβs very good too.
hereβs a thread of petitions you can sign, and please, do it.
a thread of bail funds, please donate.
black business that have been affected during the protests, please help them during this time.
letβs not forget that we are in the middle of a pandemic, and we still can get infected. if youβve been out protesting, get tested FIVE (5) DAYS AFTER EXPOSURE so you wonβt get a false negative! and this girl is helping with testing people for free, and sheβs retweeting people whoβs also willing to help.
this thread has LOTS of resources and places where you can actually do something about our cause.
for you guys planning on going to the protest, hereβs a thread to kee you guys safe.
a thread of some resources for you guys to take care of your mental health, specially black kids.
other donations spots, MFF is overwhelmed so itβs good to branch out.
and, to finally speak on it, i want to bring awareness towards my own country; brazil is one of the countries with the biggest rate of cops brutality towards black people, specially the marginalized ones that live in our favelas. the majority of our population is black, and more than half of those struggle DAILY to make a living in a country that clearly deals with white supremacy.Β
every day, and i mean it when i say every single day, black kids, teenagers and adults are killed by the cops, and no one is held accountable. iβve personally lost friends and family to cop brutality, so itβs not something i would never speak lightly of, and believe me, this issue is real and heavy.Β
here is a thread on all the people that have recently lost their lives by the hands of police enforcement and have never had the justice they deserve.
personally, iβve been reblogging and retweeting both here & on my twitter account, so if you want some information and donβt know where to find it, you can check and just ask; and a lot of my mutuals are too, so you can honestly just look around.
now, please. PLEASE. donβt come with excuses that you donβt know what is happening in the world. you have resources, you have internet access. you ARE privileged. use your privilege to speak up and FIGHT for those who donβt.
check your circles and follow those who are actively speaking on the issue, reach out, see what you can do and HELP how you can; if itβs either protesting on the streets, donating, spreading the word, just. donβt hide behind your screens and pretend you donβt know.Β
