❝ oh don’t worry about it. it might have been my fault. i was messing with the towels earlier and i’ve never really understood motel towel language. ❞ she sighed, following norma into the parlor. ❝ i have kids, too, and trust me, you’re lucky. i can barely get my kids to put down their phones to have a conversation with me. ❞
“ well, if it makes you feel better, i don’t either sometimes.” nora said, smiling a little. “usually, when i’m not as busy as i have been today, i try to go around and knock, asking if anyone needs any. i guess i’m just off of my game.” norma concluded, shrugging as she patted the fresh towels. “oh, no my son and i are very close. we talk all the time.”
