Really love how my current favorite characters in the AU are Wirt and the Trader when they have extremely different vibes. The trader just feels so rapturously untrustworthy, like someone who is physically thriving in exactly how shady they are. Meanwhile I just want to like... clear an hour out of my schedule and let Wirt explain anything they want to me. I want them to feel listened to. I cherish them.

Granted, I have to say 'current' because every single character in minecraft world AU is absolutely delightful and I cherish them so much. I just... love, how thrivingly personal and alive and real the whole world feels, it conveys a creative fullness that feels spiritually apt for Minecraft itself. One of those fanworks that's rewiring my brain chemistry in all the best ways.

It's super easy in sandbox type games to collapse the world down to just resources to be exploited and harvested, but I think it's super cool how in your story that's not only futile (the world is so much bigger than just Steve and their immortality doesn't make them inherently able to preserve or hold or seize whatever they want) but even, with Nil's yarn spun to the pillagers, actively played for horror. If the world became smaller, it would be horrifying. That all the major characters you've featured so far are mostly """monsters""" and do a lot of complicated bickering furthers this sense of just how fascinatingly alive it all is.

(also I love how none of the characters feel, lack of a better term, 'humanized'? they're all so obviously People and Individuals just slopping over with personality and culture but you didn't achieve this by deleting the weirdness of the villagers, pillagers, or piglins, but if anything, amplifying them. I could keep gushing but I'll end this ask here.)

And thats such an intersting comment on 'humanising' them. Usually people see 'humanising' as a good thing for characters but nah you like them strange and alien and Different... and I agree somewhat actually haha keep them weird!! Keep the world weird and have the characters act even in unappealing ways sometimes.

hello i would like everyone to know that sometimes you can sob your eyes out and have an existential crisis one moment and then suddenly you're booking your driver's test and applying for jobs and crocheting a blanket and maybe life isn't so bad anymore!! maybe you can feel awful and fix your life anyway!! maybe you're allowed to be a wreck and still be good enough!! i am a full on adult and have avoided getting my license for years but now i'm finally doing it because i've grown around the fear!!!! the world didn't crash and burn when i was fifteen!! i did this for myself and i'm going to be okay!!

one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(
