shin ae-ra was born in buk-gu daegu in south korea,, she was raised by her mom and dad as an only child her parents were never really interested in having other children as aera was enough for them. her father is a very known surgeon and due to his job her mother was able to be a stay at home mom and spend all her days with aera.
when she turned 8 she showed a lot of interest in dance always putting on shows for her mom and dad and family so her mom signed her up for dance classes and it only went up from there. after 2 years of being top in the classes and well known around deagu for her skills she ended up with 4 company offers at 10 years old.
offers from sm, jyp, jellyfish, and starship came in all at once. she knew exactly where she wanted to go since she looked up to people like jonghyun from shinee, sunny from snsd and boA she instantly signed a contract under sm. since she was so young her mom would limit her time at sm everyday so she could focus on school. she ended up training for 11 years finally debuting in boss as her plans to debut in cherry bomb era fell through.
