Prompto was shocked as his best friend was looking at something but what exactly? Did he found out about the barcode the gunner had hidden beneath the black bracelet he has on? Fear was hidden within violet-blue hues as he watched.

Noctis was silent as he reached over to run his fingertips over the barcode on the blond’s wrist, he could sense how tense he was. Finally speaking up after inhaling sharply. “I.. know you might not want to talk about this, but, you never told me..or the others about how you got this..” He quickly darted his eyes back over to the campfire in front of them. “You don’t have to tell me, if you don’t want to.”

Prompto gulped a hard lump forming in his throat as he felt the gentle fingers brushing against the bars of his code, his eyes showing a somber look which was very unusual for the blond as he was normally cheerful. 

He sighed a little before gathering up against courage to speak, his lips moving slightly.

“N-Noct…I’m sorry…you see, that mark isn’t something I’m proud of having. It’s a painful reminder of what I was truly meant to be, I’m—-”

He struggled in his words, trying to hold it all together before replying more.

“The true reason for my existence…was to make everyone including you miserable as I’m not a human, I’m a genetically modified clone created in a lab in Niflheim by a scientist known as Verstael…as I was his genetic template. 

I was dubbed a failure and my body was supposed to be broken down into miasma to be used as fuel for a Magitek core in a MT…I…I’m so sorry…I was supposed to be the enemy, I was saved from that fate by a Lucian Spy and was raised by a foster family. My foster parents never paid any attention to me…so I grew up alone.”

He said as tears formed out from his eyes, soft whimpers could be heard as he was revealing his true self to his best friend as he feared that the guys wouldn’t want him anymore.

Noctis’ eyebrows knitted together in confusion as the other started to explain, opening his mouth to speak but nothing came out, frowning at what his best friend said about himself, he wrapped his arms around him. “This..changes nothing, Prom..I.. I still want you here with us, you’re still my best friend.” Noctis clenched his jaw, not wanting his facade to fade in front of the other, tears prickling at his eyes as he kept his arms around Prompto.
