inaccessible typing

as a disabled person I just wanna say. stylised tumblr typing is inaccessible, and it’s alienating disabled people on this site.

I know it’s aesthetic to talk l1k3 th1s s0met1m3s. I know you wanna censor kink words by d/oing th//is. I know you want a big list of acronyms in your DNI. please just bear in mind that this leaves your blog unreadable to many disabled people. why?

• it’s incomprehensible if you use a screen reader

• hard to understand for anyone with a processing disorder, autism, or intellectual disability

• people with memory issues or minimal cultural knowledge will not know what these acronyms mean.

many times, I’ve had to exit a blog cos i couldn’t fucking process it. I know a few intellectually disabled people who have so much trouble that they can’t even follow people anymore (obviously if you can’t tell what the dni says, you can’t follow someone).

you’re welcome to type how you want on your own blog, obviously. I’ll admit I use a LOT abbreviations when i don’t have much thinking capacity. But please keep in mind that inaccessible text is instantly cutting your blog off from a disabled audience
