I really do love and treasure the quail who live around me and forage in my yard.

But last week I came home, looked out the window, and discovered that they were digging up my lavender plants because of the softness of the soil, so that they could take dust baths. It was not what I expected. I am used to protecting the roses from the deer, but quail?

I won't stop enjoying their company, but I will have to find a way...
