It is said that on the evening of 25 July [7 Thermidor], Robespierre dined with Augustin, Saint-Just, Lebas and David in a restaurant in the Champs-Elysées. Barras and some friends were at another table. Later, crossing the Place de la Révolution, the two parties met again. Augustin returned Barras’s greeting, but Maximilien did not speak.
