Love Lee's commitment to being one of the (if not the most) least dressed bladers. All his clothes ares howing off his abs, chest like a lion thot. Boy likes to flaunt what he has. Broke every dress code , took his shirt off to beyblade against Kai during Black Dranzer saga.
Lee like "alright, shit is getting serious, these abs need space to breathe"
I went with a local Celtic fairytale- Max is a selkie! I read a lot of Celtic mythology and fairytales; so the stories of selkies, witches and sidhe were always my favourites. I'm about to start the Mabinogion which is the compilation of Welsh legendary tales!
Little ficlet under the cut!
"He'd thought he would drown. He'd clearly bitten off more than he could chew, faced a storm that was too strong for him, out in the bay alone. Maybe the storms at sea were of a different kind than the ones the Great Tiger commanded, controlled by a different spirit that couldn't hear his call.
Rei was sure he would drown.
But then he was being pulled upwards, towards air, by something insistent; a strong grip on the back of his tunic. His saviour moved through the water with impossible ease, propelling them towards land while keeping them safe from the rocks and waves.
When Rei turned, still coughing and gasping for air, and partly blinded by the seawater, the creature he saw was a seal. Big dark eyes and long whiskers, it nudged him up onto a rock to relative safety. He scrambled upwards, hands slipping on the rocks and seaweed as he climbed, and the seal followed, shielding him from the worst of the spray. Odd behaviour for a seal, but he wasn't about to complain.
Then, suddenly, the seal's face shifted, tilting back to reveal a human face from underneath; with golden hair and freckles to match the dappling on his seal fur. The creature flipped his wet hair away from sky blue eyes and grinned with a mouth full of sharp teeth as Rei gaped at him wide eyed.
"You're safe now, don't worry. I've got you."
Some half formed ideas while drawing this-
Max is a half selkie, half sidhe. Taro is his selkie parent, Judy is a Queen of the Sidhe. He can take the form of either, but not permanently, so he bounces between their courts. He sees Rei using his magic in the forest one day and true to both his natures decides that this one is his.
Rei is a witch/magic user who left the coven that raised him to be independent. He has good ability in most types of magic so is depended upon for favours and assistance in the local village. He only recently settled here so hadn't run into the group yet.
Takao is a wind spirit (?)that brought the storm, almost drowning Rei unintentionally. Rei had warded off one of his storms previously so Takao was trying harder this time (tying into the first time Rei and Takao meet where Takao defeats him). He's friends with everyone in the area so he tends not to cause too much trouble, but sometimes his excitement gets away from him.
Kyouju is a type of oracle? Can see the future somewhat so is very knowledgeable and can figure out what will happen but it also makes him a fairly nervous person. I don't have any concrete ideas for Hiromi or Kai?
Emily is so very orange~
I wasn't going to give her glasses, but Emily doesn't look right without them. Let's just pretend she found them in a ship wreck and found they actually worked XD
Shark Mermaid~ Mariam had to be a shark >:D
I've had her half complete for about a week now. Couldn't decide on how to do her tail. I considered not making her all scaly like my other mer pics, and then I remembered I made Ivan have scales even though he's an eel, so I buckled down and finished this lol
I love King and Queen. They have such fun designs! They did almost have opposite fins, etc, but it looked odd. And then I was about to add white/black markings, but Queen ended up looking like an orca. Not the worst thing, but not what I intended.
-Yuriy was the youngest World Champion in history and to this day, still holds that record
-his win prompted the BBA to establish a minimum age requirement for beybladers
-Before Kai switched teams to join the Neoborgs, Yuriy had informed Hitoshi of Kai's intentions, out of good faith. However, Hitoshi hid this from the rest of the Bladebreakers and let them find out at the Championship.
-"And that's why Hitoshi Kinomiya is a shit coach, a shit human, and we saved Kai from him." (Bryan, at least once a day during said Championship)
-the Neoborgs have a huge fanbase worldwide, even in countries where beyblading is not super popular
-Ivan and Yuriy tend to ruminate and overanalyze bad matches, meanwhile Sergei and Bryan can shrug off their losses.
-Wyborg is neither a male nor a female bitbeast
-Bryan will randomly go online and chat with fans on the team's official accounts
-the Neoborgs know the beyblade rules and regulations very well, as they had to break them so often
-Ivan is the most superstitious of the team
-Sergei's favourite way to wind down is running errands
-Yuriy, "I love this song" and it's six minutes of experimental techno some group with 300 followers on social media mixed in their basement
-Sergei, "I love this song" and it's the most depressing French ballad you've ever heard
-Yuriy has almost no memories of his match against Takao at the World Championship in Russia
Apperantly I completely forgot that I posted this only on Instagram 😅
Anyway, I think Romero here could count for Unpopular Character too since I don't think any Beyblade fan would choose Romero as their absolute favourite 😅😂
Ten minutes to an important investor meeting, and your former crush/former teammate/CEO/Boss is more concerned about the redness of your eyes that you tried to cover up (from crying too much over a ex)... rather than his face paint and his fish ties.
Are they researching Sacred Spirits? Kai pretends to be inconvenienced but they all know better, he wants to know more about them more than anyone. Its also his job to make sure that Rei and Hiromi eventually leave the library, none of the team trust them to do that themselves after last time.
I finally figured out the design for Hiromi's hair! She looks so fluffy here, she needs a big messy fringe. I really enjoyed making this one, I got way too into drawing all the books!
Screw my impatient ass. This was made a month ago,I think I could do a bit better than before. There's more EmiMao cooking up in the kitchen btw rubs hands
I guess this can count as "Future"?? I'm not really following the prompts because I'm not sure how much I can draw for Mayblade, but I thought it's been a while since I posted Bey stuff
I remade a 2010 illustration I once did for a Bey contest on a now gone Deviantart group. I can't quite remember exactly what the theme was, I think it was literally just making a character older lol, and I of course did my 6 favorite characters in their 20s or something
I practically left MingMing and Mao almost the same as the original illustration, for the other 4 I changed almost everything. Boris was the hardest, because I already consider his G-Rev look peak design, but I managed something. Also, I searched "Techwear" on google way too many times (and I forgot how Kai looks in Rising, so here I thought I did something new with his suspenders/belts/whatever lmao)
Mao flying with her snowboard to show off in front of Rei
Meanwhile Rei helping Kenny/Kyoujyu to learn how to fly (they are taking it very seriously)
Max trying curling, convinced he was going for something easier and regretting all his life choices
Daichi being the real star of the event in disguise after he stole the Olympic Mascot costume from a closet (HE IS SO EXCITED)
Neoborg teaching the world how to do curling the Russian way and make it actually useful
Raul and Julia Fernandez being perfectly in sync and winning every single ice dance competition
Yuriy pulling off life-risking moves that he casually learned while skating on Lake Baikal
Kai Hiwatari doing the giant slalom at 150km/h speed because he is not for teamwork and wants the entire slope for himself only
Takao/Tyson going for the hockey puck and getting nearly killed by Rick Anderson's glorious butt
Bonus: Mascot-Daichi falling, getting a broom on his head without reason and being left there in the snow for 3 hours because nobody knew it was him (the broom cracks me up every time)
(Ps. I've been in love with the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics mascots and I just HAD to mention them)
