concept playlists;
youâre lying on mossy forest floors, slowly transforming into a nymph, your fingers are turning into flower vines, your limbs are bleeding honey & growing thick skins of sepia bark, wings sprout in between your shoulder blades. your breath sounds like the wind. fireflies litter the air above you
youâre hold up in an abandoned church, outside thereâs a raging storm & a horde of zombies roaming around, pressing up against the entrance doors. you & a small band of survivors are staying inside for the night in hopes to ride the bad weather out. you take first watch & listen to these tunes on an old ipod while everyone else tries to get some rest & the undead crawl outside, awaiting the taste of human flesh.
youâre in your boyfriendâs pickup. heâs asleep in the passenger seat, youâre driving without a destination in mind & you have the window down as you let the cool night air whip against your face in a state of pleasant delirium youâre on a rooftop somewhere, thereâs 5 am air on your skin, streetlights glint like coins at the bottom of wishing wells from where you sit. youâre feeling peaceful for the first time all week
youâre lying in the middle of a crop circle forty miles from your grandmaâs old house waiting for aliens to come and abduct you
itâs four pm in the afternoon and youâve got your head in the lap of the only boy youâve ever loved & youâre reading jane eyre & heâs sipping on tea & itâs the kind of weather where itâs just warm enough for you to pretend itâs summer & itâs drizzling & youâre listening to the rain beat softly against the windowpanes youâre curled up in bed as it pours outside, thereâs a citywide blackout and the last candle you had left has finally blown out, but you feel strangely at peace within the warm, all-consuming dark
youâre making out in the bathroom of a house party with someone that makes you feel like youâve swallowed the sun youâre standing amidst a city you burned to the ground. the apocalypse has come & gone. all thatâs left is ashes & mortar & sad bones but youâre feeling empowered. a slow smile creeps up your lips as you realize how youâve always wanted to watch the world burn you wander into wonderland and now youâre suddenly being crowned fairie queen, apparently thereâs a prophecy waiting to be fulfilled itâs mid morning but itâs dark outside from the rain. you thought the tapping on the window was from the rain but itâs actually a crow that flickers out of sight when you look directly at it youâre sipping on cherry cola by the pool on a lazy sunday & youâre feeling younger than youâve ever been youâre summoning old ghosts in an abandoned parking lot on a smoggy thursday night
ok but rich girlâs parents are out of town and instead of throwing a party she orders a pizza and gets ready to spend the night alone stuffing her face⊠while sheâs waiting for her food to arrive, weird news reports start popping up about people eating people/crazy attacks in her city. the pizza guy shows up and rings her doorbell furiously begging for her to let him in because a walker is after him. they end up staying together partly because heâs terrified to go back out there and partly because she doesnât want to be alone. they end up sticking together and bonding in the big mansion as the world falls apart around them, but then theyâre forced to go out on the road and protect themselves/one another because theyâve started to really care about one another and !!!!!Â
idk I just love how we Young People Today use ~improper~ punctuation/grammar in actually really defined ways to express tone without having to explicitly state tone like thatâs just really fucking cool, like
no   =   âNo,â she said.Â
no. Â Â = Â Â "No,â she said sharply.
No   =   âNo,â she stated firmly.
No. Â Â = Â Â âNo,â she snapped.
NO Â Â = Â Â âNo!â she shouted.
noooooo   =   âNo,â she moaned.
no~ Â Â = Â Â âNo,â she said with a drawn-out sing-song.
~no~ Â Â = Â Â âNo,â she drawled sarcastically.
NOOOOO Â Â = Â Â âNo!â she screamed dramatically.
no?! Â Â = Â Â âNo,â she said incredulously.
Iâve been calling this âtypographical nuanceâ and I have a few more to add:Â
*no* = âNo,â she said emphatically.Â
*nopes on out of here* = âNo,â she said of herself in the third person, with a touch of humorous emphasis.
~*~noooo~*~ =Â âNo,â she moaned in stylized pseudo-desperation.
#no =Â âNo,â she added as a side comment.
ânoâ =Â âNo,â she scare-quoted.
wtf are you kidding no = âNo,â she said flatly. âAnd I canât believe I have to say this.â
no no No No NO NO NO NO = "No,â she repeated over and over again, growing louder and more emphatic.Â
nooOOOO =Â âNo,â she said, starting out quietly and turning into a scream.
*no = âOops, I meant âno,ââ she corrected, âSorry for the typo in my previous message.â
I cannot express how strongly I absolutely love language and writing and communication but if anyone asks why I will be showing them this post from now on
this is great, but I got to âno no No No NO NO NO NOâ and immediately started singing âmamma mia, mamma mia, mamma mia let me goâ
no no no nO (no no no)= âNo,â she said, sticking to the status quo
