There was nothing Reine Savage loathed more than FIRE. The way its billows of smoke rise dauntingly in the sky, a desperate plea to draw more, unsuspecting people closer to the flames. If anything, fire was nothing but a TRIBUTE to those heavens which adorn the night overhead, the sickly scent of rotting flesh encompassing the atmosphere and staining the sky an ashen grey.
In all other circumstances, death was definitely her most favorite thing in the world. But fire brought upon feelings of DREAD and FOREBODING. There was something twisted in the way it had consumed her entire family CENTURIES ago, pilfering down the structure of their home with her parents, her siblings, and REINE, herself, in it.
It was the same pyre which had just swallowed her dormitory whole, along with none other than ANNIE TETCH, and Reine was SPRINTING through the hallways desperate to find the only other person in the whole world who M A T T E R E D to her.
Flames licked at her feet, the daunting reminder of death soon approaching, so Reine shapeshifted into a snake and slithered under the doorway into Roxanna Savage’s room.
❛ Sister, we must GO. ❜
There was a desperation in her voice, something she had never heard from herself before.
❛ Now. ❜
