Me at night
Off my chest.
So apparently if you don’t have BPD, you’re a “neurotypical” and you can’t feel the same things that a BPD person feels. Maybe I’ve never been officially diagnosed because I haven’t told my psychologist everything that I’m dealing with? I hope you guys never, EVER talk down to someone who feels the same way as you and condemn them for “not understanding” the way you feel because they’ve never had a medical diagnosis. You don’t know their situation. Maybe they don’t have insurance or money to go get an official diagnosis. Maybe they haven’t opened up yet and revealed every little problem they suffer with. Everyone has the right to feel sadness, anxiety, self-hate, jealousy, insecurity, and any other emotion that exists.
Me personally; you can come to me with your problems and I will not judge you for feeling that way if you don’t have a particular mental disorder. I don’t care if you know exactly what illness you have, or if you’ve never seen a therapist once in your life and you’ve been depressed for the past 5 months ever since you woke up one day and hated the way you looked for whatever reason; I will still help you and be there for you just as I hope you would be there for me.
We all have our problems. We are all suffering from something. We have no time to judge others and push someone out as if they were trying to join an elite club or something. The BPD community wasted no time in shoving me out and making me feel like a worthless piece of shit. Please don’t be like them and push someone away like that. You could be making a huge mistake to someone who isn’t ready to face that kind of retaliation. The mental illness community should be together in helping EVERYONE who is going through their own issues. And if you are a “neurotypical” or who I’m guessing is someone who has no problems at all, then that’s great for you. Keep doing what you’re doing. We have no right to shun or talk down about people who have no problems or who don’t find it difficult to live every day like we do. Kudos to them. I hope one day we can all reach that point where nothing bothers us, when we can look at the mirror one day and say “I’m beautiful, and I love myself” and mean it 110%. When we can wake up and feel confident about ourselves and the tasks we have to do that day. When we can love ourselves and help the people who are still suffering around us. That’s what I’m working towards, and maybe I might get there, maybe not. It’s a long hard road. It’s hard for everyone. No one is perfect.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that we’re all fighting our own battles, and we have no right to judge someone for feeling a certain way if they don’t have a certain disorder. You don’t know that person, just as that person doesn’t know you.
Love and acceptance can help all of us work towards being a better person.
BPD things that I wish people understood
-I get jealous and upset when I see you talking to other people and I am convinced you prefer them to me and you’re going to leave me.
-I get scared when you don’t reply and I think you hate me.
-Sometimes my emotions are too intense for me to handle and result in outbursts that I truly cannot control.
-My head is constantly telling me I’m not good enough, not pretty enough, not nice enough, not funny enough, etc. It causes me to be very insecure.
-I will get jealous and hurt and angry over pretty much anything and may act coldly towards you for a while.
-I tell lies often as a way to deal with an abusive childhood. Lies are a safety net.
-I’m used to relying on unhelpful coping strategies like self harming, drinking and impulsive spending. I’m trying hard to get better but sometimes I need you to remind me that I shouldn’t do those things.
-If you don’t show me attention when I’m feeling bad or you act like you’re busy with something else then I immediately think I’m not good enough for you and I’ll withdraw and not talk to you at all for a while.
-I binge eat when I’m hurting emotionally. Please don’t make me feel more ashamed than I already do.
-If I’m trying to talk to you or I’m upset or hurting or we’re doing something and I see you constantly checking your phone or playing games or just not paying attention to me in general then I’m going to get angry and hurt and feel like the other stuff is more important to you than I am.
-Sometimes I’ll get mad at you because I made up an imaginary scenario in my head and I won’t want to talk to you.
There are many other things but these are what I’m struggling with the most right now.
Don’t have BPD, but almost all of these are things I struggle with everyday and it hurts.
Please don’t reblog posts that are quite clearly about BPD, and then say ‘I don’t have BPD’ because it’s offensive and invalidating to those of us with the disorder.
Thanks.
Didn’t know that, I’m sorry. But these are things that a lot of people struggle with whether or not they have the disorder. I didn’t mean to offend anyone here. They overlap with a lot of other disorders like depression, anxiety and PTSD; all of which I’m diagnosed with. You shouldn’t be going around saying someone’s feelings are invalidated just because they’ve never been diagnosed with a particular disorder, that’s just fucking rude and offensive. Saw your post from a friend who reblogged, and figured I reblog too, so I hope you’re aware that your audience consists of people who suffer from many different disorders, not just BPD. We’re all struggling with something every day, and no one here is better than the other.
Thanks.
Go back and read all the tags and reblogs your ‘I don’t have BPD’ from MY community and maybe you’ll understand.
My point is, it was about BPD. If I said ‘that feeling when’ then I’d have no problem with you reblogging because it’s about anything. But these things are specifically about borderline personality.
Hah, I just did. You guys don’t seem like a very welcoming community towards people who have other mental illnesses. Are you happy now? Didn’t know Tumblr had rules about what to reblog. Have a nice day.
