Okay, I’ve finally been able to calm myself enough to really analyze the teaser trailer. (Just wait until Monday when I have a full trailer to lose my mind over…) I want to take a look at a few points. Apologies in advance for blurry images. Everything goes by too quickly for good shots.
Firstly, Eulalie Hicks! I wonder how important this character will be in the rest of the series. We got a teeny tiny glimpse of her speaking to Flamel in the last film. Also, Newt’s got another new outfit. The coat is darker, his vest is actually black… oh no, this means I need to save money for new Funko Pop figures, doesn’t it? -_- Also, I assume this can’t be a Hogwarts hallway they’re in, because muggles cannot even see Hogwarts. More on that later…
Check out this cryptex portkey thingamabobber… The animal carvings look very Asian-inspired in their design. A clue to where the portkey takes them perhaps? Also the words at the top read “Magisterial Chamber of”… I wonder what that’s about.
So now this is Theseus, Newt, Eulalie, and a woman who looks like Bunty. They’re wearing what they were wearing when walking with Jacob… but I see someone in his place. And she looks almost like she’s got the same coat on and maybe a tie. This makes me wonder if Jacob in that shot actually was Jacob or someone else. I smell a whiff of polyjuice somewhere…
I love the powerful imagery here. The firework symbol is gorgeous. A set of G’s back-to-back (for Gellert Grindelwald, obviously) with the Deathly Hallows symbol in between. Judging from that and the Nazi-like poster banners, I’m assuming this is Nurmengard Castle. Now if only I could make out who’s walking up the steps.
FINALLY! A glimpse of Mads. It’s underwhelming, but it’s only a split-second shot. I can’t judge yet.
Who is she shooting the killing curse at?! All of my babies had better live through this film or I will riot. RIOT!
This scene happens WAY too fast for me to get a good shot. Seeing Newt in such a different look kind of weirds me out. As he’s running, I can’t really make out what creature he’s carrying to safety. Judging by the bird legs and what looks like a beak (which I couldn’t capture), I feel like he’s protecting a baby hippogriff. ???
It took a second viewing to figure out what this was, but right before this moment you can see the scorpion-like outline. It’s a blast-ended skrewt!!!
Now this moment brings me back to a question I had at the end of the second film. I was wondering what Jacob saw when he stood on that bridge, because as I mentioned before muggles cannot see Hogwarts. But what is that in his hand?! I see a wand!!! This brings me back to what else I said earlier about Jacob not always being Jacob. I truly wonder if that’s really him in this shot.
Where did this golden snitch come from?!
I just want to say that I am digging Credence with the longer hair instead of the ugly bowl cut he had.
Lastly………. why is this moment backwards? Is it supposed to be backwards in the actual film? Or is this like what happens with a lot of trailers where things get flipped for no reason? And the way Albus just stands there watching (who I assume is) Credence come for him? THAT is a powerful moment.
I’m almost afraid of what we’ll see on Monday. So far, there was no Queenie, no Tina… I don’t know what to expect. I’m excited as hell, but also scared. What did y’all think of the teaser trailer??
