I would like to thank @cassonyas for pointing out something I hadn’t noticed before - probably because i was speed reading in a panic - which is the main reason why Levi punched Eren to begin with. As you can see, Levi never actually handed over the serum to Eren. Here he is still holding out his hand for it while Levi pulls it to his chest:

Levi doesn’t hand it over, and ch. 83 ends with Eren’s angry and threatening head bunt:

Then in chapter ch.84, we see Eren actually grab and tighten his hold on the serum, even after Levi tells him to move on:

After more arguing Eren still refuses. When Levi eventually says: “And you’re right. But since Erwin has surfaced here, I have to inject him.” - that’s when Eren outright yanks the serum towards himself, probably because he realized Levi was dead-set on his decision.

And that’s when Levi had enough and clocked him in the face: 

Mikasa then mounted him. It seems obvious but I don’t know why i missed it or if anyone else did too. Levi only resorted to the punch when Eren stubbornly refused to obey his command and actively challenged him. He tried to take what wasn’t his by force.

Eren sure had that punch coming. Both him and Mikasa tried to take the serum by force even though THE COMMANDER informed everyone that it’s Levi’s decision. When that failed, they resorted to emotionally manipulating Levi. I know it was a time of desperation for everyone, but once again this is another instance when they absolutely don’t respect Erwin in this chapter.

@akira1love​ i noticed that eren had grabbed hold of it but i never paid attention to just how actively he was trying to take it from him and how many opportunities levi gave him to let go. people are also saying that levi had “no right to hit him out of nowhere” so i hope this step by step guide will kill that argument lmfao. levi didn’t go 0-100 fam. eren overstepped.

I noticed this the first time I saw the raws and I was so riled up. This measly little cadet tried to snatch away the serum from his superior officer. The stupid “Don’t fucking punch Eren” post that’s been going around made me light headed. This little shit got what he deserved. I can’t explain how disappointed I am in him. I mean I knew he was a selfish brat but not to this extreme. He’s so entitled he tries to guilt trip Levi and eventually turns to forceful measures when he doesn’t get what he wants. This is the main character of the show. *sigh*

I just realised Zeke/Bert/Reiner respected Erwin and Levi and considered them to be their strongest and most threatful opponents.

Zeke got warned about Levi and Erwin, not about anyone else.

That feeling when you get more respect from your enemies than your own comrades who are ready to slit your throat and throw you away like trash even when they swore to give their hearts to humanity and remain loyal.
