My advisor: howâs your thesis going
Me: in this chapter i would like to discuss whether or not knowledge of the Dutch language influences the experience of reading Leigh Bardugoâs Six Of Crows duology (2015/16), and how much of the words are supposed to be considered little Dutch jokes woven into the text. As an obvious example we can take the name of the city: âKetterdamâ as a bastardized version of Amsterdam carries the Dutch word for heretic/non-believer, an excellent tongue-in-cheek for a city where the religion is inherently linked to the economy. Less obvious are some of the names, and we can wonder whether Ghezen, the Kerch god of industry and commerce, is a reference to the âGeuzenâ [ËÉŁĂžËzÉ(n)] (eng: the Beggars), the rebels who established an independent Dutch republic in the 16th century, whom depending on motivation could be considered either pirates or privateers.
My advisor: werenât you writing about Japanese lesbians in the â70s

U can really tell whoâs been on tumblr more than four years because we all give up on networks and promos and our blogs become bizarre collections of obscure art and documentation of bad life choices
crazy that iâm only able to see life through my own eyes.. thereâs over 7 billion other perspectives iâll never be able to have.. over 7 billion stories i wonât ever be able to fully know. we all get such a small slice of the experience of life.. pass by strangers every day that weâll never be aware of. what are they going through? what are they thinking about? i always wonder..Â
