Kaladin in his rarest form: smiling! Nothing too fancy, just wanted to draw him in a less serious light for once. A few weeks ago @lamaery suggested a lighthearted interaction between Kal and Syl for my next Kal painting so if you like what you see, you have her to thank for this one! I originally meant this to be just a sketch but as usual I got a bit carried away and rendered some parts of it more than I initially intended to.

Anyone else loved Kaladins time in Shinovar? I really enjoyed how we got some casual scenes with the three of them without all the drama Sanderson usually gives us. Gave me plenty of stuff to draw.
If only I could paint it all ...

I’m currently re-reading the lightbringer series by Brent Weeks and thought I might do a little repainting of Kip. The last one I made was from 2014, and I noticed I completely whitewashed the characters. I’ll do better.
MINOR MENDING
I cried so much at the end of season 4 😭
Season 5 is starting tomorrow on Amazon Prime in Germany and I wanted to finish this little therapy piece I started painting a few weeks ago, before I catch up on all the commissions and studies I still have to do.
As my wrist hurt I had the chance to catch up on The Magicians and binged season 3 and 4 in a single week.
Wrist got better, now hurts again from drawing Q and Eliot over and over again in ny off time from work 😅 I'm so sad 😭
Hopefully gonna finish a bigger piece of Quentin Fanart when my wrist is better again. Gosh, I loved that character so much.
A lot of time when I paint and draw fanart I usually do it the way I used to draw when I was not a professional artist: I don't use as much reference and don't plan my work with a thousand thumbnails and color or value variations.
That's why I mostly end up with an image that is less strong, but I enjoy this straightforward approach to painting and drawing.
