Theory: Ian's colors are yellow, orange, and black.
In a short/reel from DPR Reality on 2026.01.07 (Link), Ian talks about the upcoming album and how it's about Ian coming back to reality. Behind him there's something taped on the wall that looks to be either a story board, a mood board, or something along those lines.
Along the left side of it, there are 4 colored squares: yellow, pink, orange, and black. I believe these are the main colors of this upcoming album, as we haven't seen an album from him with these specific colors before and I can't think of anything else it would be for.
Editors note: I wrote most of this post prior to the announcement of Episode 2 of Everything In Between but didn't come back to finish it until well after the release. Based on the fact that both DPR official and DPR Ian made posts that are mostly white, I'm a little skeptical that this theory is in any way correct. (Link to dpr_official posts: Link. Furthermore, I feel like there's a tiny chance the pictures in the back of the reel I mentioned could be planning for the Cream and Artic tour, but the color scheme doesn't seem to line up since everything related to the tour and the No Drugs EP has been black, white, and red. Now I have a lot of questions and not a lot of answers: Do Cream+Artic's and Ian's projects just happen to have the same color schemes or could this be pointing to a full DPR tour? If DPR is all going on tour together, why are Cream and Artic going to Central and South America without Ian? If the color scheme of Ian's album is black, pink, orange, and yellow, why is the marketing white? If the picture in the back of the DPR Reality reel isn't for Ian's upcoming album, what is it for? Anyways, back to the topic of this post.
The colors on the picture taped to the wall can be seen together in multiple music videos. In the No Blueberries music video, his outfit includes an orange and black shirt. An important note is that this shirt has eyes on it. Eyes are a big symbol in his work, so I imagine this shirt holds some sort of important symbolism. After the altercation in the bathroom with Mito, he puts on yellow-tinted glasses which he has on for a while and then takes off when the lights go out in the diner. The fact that he puts the glasses on after Mito goes and then takes them off before Mito and the blueberry monster show up makes me think yellow has something to do with Ian.
This pattern continues in the Scaredy Cat music video. When we see maybe Ian, maybe Scaredy Cat, maybe someone else in the closet, the orange and black shirt appears again. Near it, on the same side of the closet, are a yellow shirt and a red shirt. I'm not entirely sure if the red shirt is connected; the music video is full of reds which makes sense, as its one of Mito's colors. So, it could be connected, or not.
Theres another instance in Scaredy Cat where he walks into a room where several tops are hanging: the orange and black shirt, a yellow top, a red top, a few white tops with flowers and yellows and oranges, and the blazer with a white grid. There also seems to be a yellow top on the floor in the corner.
Another place where these potential album colors show up is on his shirt in the Mito movie. In several scenes, he is wearing a flowery shirt thats black, pink, and an orangy-yellowy color. We see Insanity in this shirt too, it seems, but we do also see Ian in this shirt. Since Insanity and Ian are fairly connected, I'm not surprised that Insanity isn't wearing something different here. Additionally, one of the times we see him wearing this shirt, he is peering out a window framed by yellow curtains.
The last music video scene, that I found, where we see these colors together is a scene in Peanut Butter and Tears with Ian and The Green. In this scene, the couch and one of the walls are orange, with the other wall having a yellow stripe. There's also a black flamingo in the background. I think his shirt here is also noteworthy even though its not an exact match. It's red, yellow, grey, and white, which is very similar to the colors of clothes we see in the closet in Scaredy Cat.
Based on these instances, I feel like Ian's colors are probably yellow, orange, and black. I think he could maybe be connected to pink in someway, but I've seen a lot more pink in association with Insanity rather than him. One of the reasons I believe in this theory is because to me, it makes sense that he would share a color with Insanity (yellow/gold), and I think it also makes sense that he wouldn't share a color with The Hybrid. In a live from 2024, he talks about each character's colors and how Hybrid's colors, red, green, and blue, are the primary digital colors: every other color stems from a combination of those colors. (The live: Link 29 - 34:20; a more concise/edited version can be found in Squirrel's video: Link 57:41 - 59:02). He has described The Hybrid as everything he has locked away and repressed, an entity formed from experiences and the consequences of his actions, and the worst of Insanity and Mito combined. The Hybrid presumably holds a lot of memories that Ian does not which makes them very different from each other, and that is why I think it makes sense that they wouldn't share a color.
When I first wrote this post, I had more thoughts after that last paragraph that weren't vital to my theory but worth mentioning nonetheless. However, I did not finish writing about them and have since forgotten what I wanted to say. I might come back to this post later if I remember what I wanted to write, but for now, my theory ends here.
