Theory: New DPR Ian single dropping March 13th 2026.
This theory is based on an Instagram post he made on Feb 14th 2026: Instagram Story Instagram Post
The song he put in the post is Rift by Quarters. Quarters is a United Statesian rock band that is said to cover the genres alternative rock, indie rock, and pop rock. These genres encompass what Ian's upcoming album will be based on what he has said about the album up until this point. Rift is on the album Into the Rift which was released July 29th, 2022. This is the exact same day the Moodswings In To Order album (Miito/Mito2) was released. This seems highly unlikely to be a coincidence.
Quarters has a new album coming out Friday March 13th 2026. A few important notes about this. 1. Everything Ian has released music-wise since and including Mito2 has been released on a Friday with the exception of Don't Go Insane (single) which was released on a Wednesday. (All music prior to Mito2 was not released on Fridays). 2. The Moodswings In This Order (Mito/Mito1) album was released March 11th 2021. This year is the 5th anniversary of Mito1, so it would be a perfect time to celebrate and perhaps release some new music.
I think this post is teasing/revealing something about the new album and/or new singles coming up because of the caption: Oops #itscoming #dreamers ❤️ 🔥 🌊 🌒. The "Oops" feels like he is saying "oops I'm revealing something", maybe something he shouldn't reveal, and the "#itscoming" is something I think he has used before but I'm not sure on that. Either way, his more dedicated fans know that he is working on this album, and this seems like his way of subtly communicating something about it. I think the emojis are things we will find in his new music. Fire and water/the ocean are recurring themes in his released music, so I don't doubt they will be in this album as well. I think its also interesting that he is using the 🌒 emoji here. This is the quarter moon and the band who wrote the song he posted is called Quarters/Quarters of Change.
I wonder if perhaps we might get a song about Mito, given the fact that Mito2 and Into the Rift share a release date. Maybe Midnight Highway given the fact that his picture was taken at night. I don't know, though, this is all speculation.
There's one other thing I'd like to mention. In Ian's visual work, he uses older technology like cars and computers to time stamp when things happened (I believe he talks about this in one of the bts shorts for filming stuff for the Dear Insanity EP). In So I Danced, there's an old CRT desktop computer in the background at the end of the music video. The cover of Into the Rift is an old CRT VCR player. I think I'm reading too much into it here but I'm wondering if this is pointing to something "older," perhaps hes releasing a song that the fan base has known about for a while (cough cough Midnight Highway).
