A little slice of heaven, home away from home. Nova is bundled oh so carefully, pale blankets keeping the cold from coming in, fresh features scrunching as she held her close to her chest. Just like her mother. How blissful this double life led had turned out to be, dancing between the family lines. Lukas was happy, and though held at arms length, Selmina got a chance to be part of her family. Hard to forget when she first found out. The look of confusion, devastation, on her features as hands gripped Sarah’s phone, screen alight and background on full display. No longer a stranger, face pressed against Lukas’ with smiles BEAMING. She couldn’t blame the woman for wanting to see her son, but he wasn’t her’s anymore. Regardless of her love for him, the residual fear of the MACHINE was never far behind. Selmina didn’t need to know. The simple knowledge that he was alive and well was enough, even if now she could only know him through photos passed in secret.

She’s tired. Forgotten how much a child could take out of her, long hair tied back in a loose bun, exhaustion weary under her eyes. Desperately trying to soothe her at night, hopeful for rest while Lukas worked, wick well and truly burning at both ends. Still, smile ever present on her face, stepping close to the older woman to offer out her bundle of joy.

*ﾟ+｡.:*☆*.｡        TOUGH PILL TO SWALLOW  //   but swallow you must.  for the darling boy that lays ‘neath the shroud of machinery  (  perhaps lost forever  --   even through digital photographs,  the love they seemingly share ‘twixt mother  &  father,   he is not your son.  not the same man that you raised   &   brought close to your chest day in,  day out.   sarah told you plainly   &  how nothing but acceptance can brand your bones now  --  )     ;   still,   happiness resides.   like flora opening within the cracks of grieving ribcage,   there is elation towards family.  them wrapped up in love,   how it inspires the soul,   tugs ‘pon remembrance towards husband long passed.  you cannot wish for anything more than this.    as long as lukas is alive,   sarah  -  oh,   doesn’t adoration for her course within lithe veins  --   as content as she can be,   there is nothing more you could possibly desire.     ---   except the question that forms,   that spills into four walls like sweetened ichor.  honey that sticks ‘pon the back of your tongue.   causes gasp to fall,   hands that rest within the lap now rubbing nervously  (  excitedly  !!  )  ‘pon skirt-covered thighs.    ❛  jag   ?? ❜    me  ??   surely not.    surely this wanting fantasy proves itself just that  ;  pinch your arm,   close your eyes  &  reopen them towards reality.   the offering of grandchild,  to have,  to hold,   how you cannot believe your very ears  !!    oh,  gratitude blooms,   see it through softened smile peaking ‘pon rose flesh  &  the prick of moisture within bright blues.   ❛   goodness,  i  --   only if you are sure.  ❜

*ﾟ+｡.:*☆*.｡        ❛   ÅH ÄLSKLING  --   look at you.  of course you can’t,   you already took the biggest chance in the world.  right here.  ❜   a tender reach,  the delicacy of slender palm that gently rests ‘pon blooming bump   (   ever the fawn towards motherly spirits,  those that will spend the upcoming years surrounded with happiness.   the coos of young laughter,  toys scattered across carpets   &   rascals running havoc within grassy fields  //   how you miss those days more than most   )    ,   the smile that peaks etched in a weariness unmeant.  how you are happy for her,   ignite with elation towards soul bound for babyhood  !!    but that does not cease the grief towards memory,   the soft sigh that departs testament towards what your hands should hold.   right towards your son felix,   the other towards lukas  (   oh my darling,  where are you  ??  )   as heart maintains your husbands ashes that will never be forgotten.   how you can only hope that sarah holds better luck,   that whoever is lucky enough to stand by her side  &   ride this journey with her  ??   does so in a world without chaos,   in a time where machines  &  augments are ‘pon the rise   &  yet newborns life should remain shrouded in innocence.   the gentle pat of tummy follows before you place hands gracefully into lap.      ❛   keep yourself safe,   for your family.   do not let anyone take that away from you.  please.   trust me when i say,  do everything you can to keep them close.  no chances.  not anymore. ❜
