Silas looked down for a moment before looking up at the ceiling, a gentle smile plastered on their face before their features filled with worry and fear for a moment before taking a deep breath. “It was…… rather complicated. Up and down. I just made sure I would be able to survive” They spoke softly. “But to sum it up…” The brunette closed their eyes, taking a deep breath. It felt as though they were a deer with a hunting rifle aimed at them, the crosshairs pointing directly for a headshot. The human gripped onto their skirt again before calmly saying “I, uh, lived with my grandmother growing up. Folks couldn’t care for me properly n would fight a lot.. most of the fights being about me. But my grandmother’s house wasn’t better either. Constantly I’d be reminded of what happened between my parents and just be seen as a girl who didn’t have either parents growing up. Sure, I had my grandmother but.. we had a language barrier. She didn’t know a lick of English n I didn’t know a lick of Spanish so we had to make up our own shitty version of sign language.” They let out a sharp, bitter laugh “Sometimes when we couldn’t understand each other still, we’d go back to that shitty sign language that made us bond to begin with.” They smiled gently ‼️⚠️(CW / TW start: there is implications of childhood SA, please skip past this part if you genuinely cannot handle it, thank you.) before their eyes widened. It felt like the metaphorical hunter’s rifle had its trigger pulled as a tear slipped down their face.. then another, and another, so on and so forth their breath hitched softly before they gripped their stomach. “Uh…. My grandfather wasn’t really the best he— he-“ Silas immediately covered their mouth and closed their eyes, took a deep breath and (CW / TW over)) ⚠️‼️said, “Jeez.. sorry about that. Usually I find myself being around Laito whenever I get like this. But instead of speaking, it’s just a silence and mutual understanding, one of the few times where I find him tolerable if I’m being honest..”. The human gently cleared their throat, “Anyways, afterwards I did my best to work off my studies so I could make my family see me as somebody else and not that stupid little girl.. But I failed. It wasn’t even enough. It was never enough. And since I was the only little girl they had at the time, I was raised with more ‘traditional’ values, if that makes any sense. I don’t value them anymore but it’s like second nature at times since I was so young and impressionable and it was the only things I knew at the time.” The human took in a deep breath before twiddling their thumbs, “A little embarrassing to be honest. Then once I was out of my grandmother’s house, I studied Spanish a little so I could talk to her better. But I ended up moving back in with my father instead. I think I was in the middle of high school? Then my old man got a letter in the mail and said it was for me. When I saw it, it was for me to be a student at Ryoutei High School. I’m gonna be honest, I mainly came here because I wanted to see what life was like in Japan and I thought this would be my only chance.” They scratched the back of their neck, “My father called one of his old friends to tell him the good news, can’t be fucked to remember his name, but his friend offered to let me stay here.. My father happily said yes since he figured I’d be well off but—“ Silas shrugged, “Well, look at the situation, bunch of hungry vampires and just me, just a human being. I remember my first day here, one of the brothers mentioned how their recent bride from the church had died and me coming was more unlucky than being stuck in hell itself. He wasn’t wrong but it still hurt.” The human chuckled before looking up at the ceiling with a soft smile “I wonder what my family is up to right now..”
