But not really, Daniel was worth his weight in diamonds (literally) to Renault and they've taken every opportunity to tell anyone who'll listen as much.

Never forget that Christian Horner publicly admitted that if salary was the sticking point, he was willing to match Renault's offer at any stage.

Here is what Renault have said about Daniel AFTER he announced his departure <- when they had no reason to protect him, be complimentary or amicable.

Cyril Abiteboul- Team Principle (💔):

"What he gave us primarily as a driver was remarkable, especially this year. I think there is no doubt about the development of the team this year. That is especially thanks to Daniel."
