Hiii! I love your writing and I'm especially in love with 'Can't you even keep a bakery running'. I love the way you describe Haytham. Is it possible to see next part soon? 💜💙
Thank you! I’m glad you like Haytham, he’s been a lot of fun to write. I have a half-baked part three sitting here in front of me, but for you I’ll see if I can’t polish it up and get it out there <3
I know it’s been literally a whole year but I can explain!
When you last heard from me, I was living/working in California; I’ve since transplanted to the east coast and changed jobs a couple times. There have been lots of changes for me over the last year!
One of those changes is, as you may be able to guess, the current global situation. I’m currently in a state with an active shelter-in-place order (a visit that was supposed to be temporary but here we are) and have absolutely nothing better to do than bend to the whims of fancy and drink wine.
In an effort to keep my brain from slowly stewing into mush, I’m opening requests! I’ve updated my ask/request guidelines (which you can find here). My ask page is here. I’m sure most of you are just as numbly bored as I am, so if there’s anything that will make self-isolation a little brighter for you, let me make it for you! You’ll be doing me a favor, too :P
I’m looking forward to hearing from you! I will of course post anything that may arise from being struck by muse between the fridge and pinterest.
You bored, or feeling artsy but don’t have any inspiration...? *updated!*

Notes: Conceptual, sort of freeform poetry...ish? Idk just a concept that I enjoyed tbh

Loki had always known war. He was taught the etiquette of battle hardly after he knew what the concept was, and he had lifted daggers just past lifting a pen. War, subterfuge, even betrayal was an art form.
Humanity had no such concept. War was fought with abandon, entirely free of the strict codes of conduct that he had been bound by in Asgard. Humans played dirty, until their last breath. And she was the living embodiment of it. She was bold, fiery, unwilling to back down in the face of anything. She knew no rules-- if there was something she wanted, there was nothing in all the nine realms that could keep it from her. He was quite sure she had never known the word polite, let alone practiced it. He was horrified.
And he was obsessed.
He was furious to learn that he didn’t frighten her. Even the strongest of those he had encountered in his many battles could be turned by just the right flash of his wicked grin, a flick of his razor-sharp daggers, and a trick of the mind. She stood stony in the face of all of he could throw at her. He lusted after every second she would give him, first under the pretense of bending her to his will, but it swiftly turned on him and he lost himself in her fury.
Every touch, every fleeting look, every stolen, molten kiss left him craving more, and War was cruel enough to deprive him of all of it. She had taken him hostage, unequivocally, and he had absolutely no desire to leave. War wanted blood, and he was willing to give it to her. He let it litter bruises across his skin, make him scream until his throat was raw. It drew the very vitality from his veins, and he gave it up without a fight.
She was a barely-contained fire, a cannon held back by a scant thread of patience. The Avengers used her, but they feared her. Loki watched her ravage through the world, ripping through every opposition put up around her. She tore her enemies to shreds, in whatever way would drive her message home. She fought till the last man standing, the last scrap of breath she could force from her chest. War arrived in a blinding flash, and was over just as suddenly.
War lingered long after she departed him, haunting his steps and lurking in shadowy corners. Long after the wounds of the dance had vanished, long after the hot, dark nights and the tempest of passion that she was. She festered in the minds of everyone who crossed the path she had razed, burned like embers in their bellies. There wasn’t a soul spared, not a life around her that she had not dug her claws into, that had not been affected when she was rent from them. Try as he might to leave her behind, to return to some sense of peace and normalcy, he could still feel the thrill of battle rush through him when he found her in fleeting nights and reckless humans whose eyes burned with her fire. War branded where she touched, and he would never be free of the scars.
Word count: 2119 jeez how does this keep happening

Loki didn’t know he ended up here. He was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn’t even realize he had wandered from the training arena to Y/N’s door until her voice called from within, “come on in!” Had he knocked?
Rather than be a coward and an idiot and turn to flee, he steeled himself and turned the handle.
Her space was as comfortable and inviting as ever, but the soft golden light from her lamps and the assortment of cozy rugs and throw pillows couldn’t compare to the welcoming eyes of Y/N.
“Loki!” she exclaimed, the look on her face so bright that he could do nothing but stare, enraptured. “I haven’t seen you in a while! Come in, make yourself at home.”
He slapped a cordial smile on his face and hoped she couldn’t tell his heart rate had increased significantly as she greeted him, extending a hand to lead him in. He noticed her stop herself from leaning in about an arm's length away, but her expression didn't change.
“You look a little tired,” she remarked. “When did you last eat? Before you remind me, I know Asgardians don’t really work the way humans do. But I also know they’ve got you working some kind of training program out there, and that must be exhausting.”
“I can manage,” he said, and then wished he felt comfortable enough to tell her the truth- he was exhausted, not only physically, but mentally, and emotionally.
“Let me put on some tea,” she suggested, and her hand brushed his, causing a shock to surge up his spine. “You can come sit at the counter if you want.”
He followed her to the kitchen and perched himself on a bar stool, watching her busy herself with tidying the counters. “Sorry it’s a mess,” she mused. “I haven’t gotten around to cleaning up from my baking last night. The, ah, cookies are in that jar by the wall, there, if you want one.”
As it so often happened in her presence, Loki found he had nothing to say. The air around them stilled as she bustled around the kitchen, and his chest bubbled with words that wouldn’t come past his lips. To save the encounter from becoming more awkward, if nothing else, he managed to force out a question.
“How are you faring?”
Y/N chuckled breathlessly, and brushed the question aside with a handful of flour. “Ah, same old with me. What have you been up to? I hardly see you anymore. The boys aren’t being too hard on you, are they?” She paused and turned to face him, her expression set. “Tell me if they are, I’ll set them straight.”
He shook his head, a smile stealing his lips at her thoughtfulness. “I’m quite alright.”
She peered at him for a moment longer before accepting his answer and returning to her tidying. “If you say so. If they ever are, let me know. I’ll pummel some courtesy into ‘em.” Her eyes twinkled as she pounded a fist into her palm, creating a small cloud of flour.
“I will keep it in mind.”
Satisfied, Y/N finished her tidying and set a pot of water on the stove. She turned to her cookie jar, and spoke as she retrieved two of the pastries.
“I know you said you’d be fine, but Asgard doesn’t have my great-gramma’s chocolate chip cookies, and you have my guarantee that they make everything better.”
The look in her eyes was something he couldn’t refuse. She grinned as he relented and accepted the treat, and she dug into her own. He nibbled, glancing around her counter and wishing he weren’t such a blithering idiot.
“Now,” she started, her voice changing slightly. “Tell me how you’re really feeling.”
Loki, taken slightly aback by her sudden and forward question, swallowed a little too hard and suppressed a cough. Y/N, unfazed, turned to pour him a glass of water, which he accepted gratefully. Once he got control of his breath, he spoke.
“Beg your pardon?”
She smiled at him, warm, attentive, and painfully lovely, and tapped her chest with one finger. “Empath, remember? You walked in here with this big ol’ stormcloud over your head, pretending like it’s not there.” Her face changed, her beautiful smile turning down. “You know you can talk to me, right? I’m not a healer just out there.”
Loki lowered his hands to the counter and glared at the cookie. He knew he should have bailed when he first realized where he was. Of course she would be able to read through him. By now, any of the Tower could tell something was off, empath or no. He sighed-- he was trapped, now, and what was the harm in confiding in her a little? Just enough to get her off his back.
“I... admit I am tired.”
Y/N remained quiet, waiting for him to elaborate.
“This is... not what I’m used to. It has been trying to... to get across to the team. I have been participating in their glorified brawls for months, but I am still treated as nothing more than a dastardly villain. To see Thor interact so freely with them, and to be so cut off, even as I am practically prostrating myself out there -- which is humiliating, might I add -- to-- to say it’s disheartening would be an understatement. I understand their reservations, believe me, I would not trust me if our positions were reversed, but I cannot seem to convince anyone of my reform. I don’t know what to do to show them that I mean well, or, at least, that I don’t mean ill. I find that I wish I could consult my mother, and then I remember that it is my fault she-- ”
He caught himself, suddenly, with the shocking sting of tears welling in his eyes, realizing how much he’d inadvertently laid bare. He swiftly schooled his expression and crushed the festering emotion in his chest.
“Forgive me. I didn't mean to get out of hand.”
He refused to meet Y/N’s eyes, and flinched when she slid her fingers over his. She pried his hands from the fists he hadn’t realized he’d made, and forced his palms open, laying her hands flat atop them.
“Don’t apologize. Talking it out is healthy.”
The tea kettle began to whistle, and she retreated to fetch it. He found his hands, of their own accord, trying to follow her. He sat in silence, struggling to keep his composure, as she fixed their tea, and placed a steaming cup before him. She took up his hands again and held them tightly, but didn’t say anything yet. He watched amber swirl around the tea bag, sweetening the water.
Y/N broke the silence after a long minute. “Loki.”
Her tone made him lift his eyes. “It’s okay if you can’t find the right words yet. You don’t have to be perfect. It’ll take time out there, they all have issues the same as you. We’re all a little broken, on this team. I would know.” she smiled softly, but it did little for his mood. “And we’re all trying to work it out at the same time. They’re really not the best at making friends.”
She shook their joined hands gently, for emphasis. “But I am here to help you. Nothing that it said in this apartment ever leaves this apartment. If it’ll help you to offload, this is a safe place to do it.”
“I don’t want to weigh on you,” he admitted, quietly, after a long moment of silence. She huffed a soft laugh, but it wasn’t condescending.
“This is my job, Loki. I am here so you can weigh on me. I can take it.” She rubbed her thumbs over his. “Listen. I love you, alright? Just like I love those crazy hooligans out there. Nothing they say can change that.”
He stared at their hands, not daring to speak yet lest his voice betray how much turmoil he felt. Y/N continued, her voice soft, as if he were an animal that would bolt at any second.
“If you need to breathe, you can always come here. My door is never locked. If you just need to make a cup of tea and sit on the couch, or come wake me up to talk. I’m here for you. I love you. No strings attached.”
Still, silence. She came around the counter and gathered him into her arms without another word. He melted into her embrace, bringing his arms up to loosely hold her back. Beneath his ear, he could feel more than hear her heartbeat beneath her warm skin. His eyes slid closed, and one of her hands smoothed over a wisp of hair at the nape of his neck. He lost track of time until her voice hummed through her chest, and his cheekbone.
“It’s late. You should get some sleep. I think it’ll help.”
Suddenly, he was frightened of being alone. He knew well enough that his body was starved for touch, he didn’t know it would make him feel this panicked. Almost without thinking, he tightened his arms. He opened his mouth to speak and thought better of it, then second-guessed again and begged, “May I stay?”
Her breath puffed the crown of his head. “Of course. I have a couch and a guest bedroom, take your pick.”
Loki couldn’t look her in the eyes to voice his next request, and his voice came out no more than a whine. “Could I... stay with you?”
To her credit, she didn’t miss a beat. “Sure. We can build a pillow fort and gossip about Tony’s scandals like teenage girls.” Y/N pulled away to look him in the eye, and he was dismayed to see her image blur with unshed tears. She brought her hands from around his shoulders to hold his face, and her thumbs caught the tears that fell when he blinked. “How does that sound?”
It was all he could do to nod. Y/N pressed feather-light kisses to his eyelids, and retreated fully.
“Drink your tea,” she instructed. “I’ll get Fort Y/N started.”
~
About an hour later, he was sitting, surrounded by couch cushions and various pillows, beneath a canopy of blankets. Y/N pulled down tapestries from the walls to add to their burrow, and ended up having to stack a couple chairs to make the roof high enough for Loki’s lanky frame to fit comfortably.
He was feeling a little less somber, thanks in no small part to the light banter Y/N kept going, and the purposeful brushes of her fingers every so often.
He watched her as she lifted the makeshift door and ducked inside, her arms full of the sheets from her bed.
“Alright,” she announced. “I think we’re all set.”
She dumped the load of blankets on his head, drawing a laugh to her lips. He found himself smiling as he got untangled, and it only grew when she sat beside him, giggling as she fixed the hair that had been tousled. Even in the dimmed light inside their fort, he could see her eyes sparkle.
“Feeling a little better?”
Loki breathed a small sigh. “Yes. Thank you.”
Y/N shot him a wink and arranged the blankets around them. “Told you. Healers work all hours.”
His fingers twitched as she settled in, and he picked at his hands awkwardly. She looked at him for a moment, bemused, before she opened her arms in welcome.
He nearly fell into her, resting his head on her chest and coiling his arms tightly around her torso. She didn’t make any move to protest as he slung a long leg over hers, and simply adjusted her arm beneath his head so they could both be comfortable.
He heaved a heavy sigh just as she did, and it made her chuckle again. Her fingers brushed a stray lock of hair behind his ear, tucked behind his knee to fold their legs together, and came to rest on his bicep. She rested her cheek against his head, and Loki’s chest filled with warmth.
They remained in companionable silence for a while, before his mind posed him a question. Feeling much more relaxed, he relayed it to Y/N.
“Do you really love me?”
Beneath his ear, her heart jumped, but her voice was smooth. “We’ll talk about that later. Right now, you should sleep.”
Maybe it was just his exhaustion speaking, or her sheer selfless kindness feigned emotion in him, but as he drifted off, he murmured one last confession.
Notes: Finally finished! Plot Bunny #58! @sdavid09 I'm glad to be a part of the Plot Bunny challenge, this was a lot of fun! I started to go a little overboard and had to rein myself in, lol. Fíli x reader if you’d like, it’s pretty open-ended :) This had very little editing, sorry for any mistakes!

“Promise you won’t tell?”
Y/N suppressed a sigh as she pulled Kíli’s sleeve down, over the neatly-wrapped bandages on his forearms. She offered a gentle smile to counter the worried gaze that kept flitting over her face.
“Kíli. Have I ever told?”
He chewed on his lip. “No.”
She gripped his hand for a moment in an effort to calm his nerves. “And I won’t start now. Maybe ask your wife to use something a little softer than old fish-rope, next time, though, hm?”
The blush that he’d come into her clinic with returned with a vengeance, and he ducked his head. “I will.”
She stepped back to allow him the space to stand from the stool she’d put him on. “Come back tomorrow and I’ll redress it. That salve should all but fix it overnight, so long as it stays put. I’ll be here all day.”
“Alright. Thank you, Y/N.” He took her hand for a moment and spoke genuinely before turning to leave.
She watched him go and shot him another smile as he glanced back at her and shut her front door. Once she was alone, she took down his name in her logbook with a sigh. Even though the newly refurbished Erebor had plenty of healers to spare, she could always count on finding one of the Original Company lingering at her doorway -- either at her clinic or her quarters, it didn’t seem to matter -- at all hours. She had plenty of secrets to go around, but they all knew very well that she was tight-lipped.
Unfortunately, boys will be boys, and her boys were no exception. (Well, that wasn’t entirely true. Bilbo, ever the picture of politeness, always behaved himself.) There wasn’t a week gone by that she didn’t have to deflect one of the bloody dwarves trying to weasel information out of her about any of the others’ visits. Despite the fact they had all --Thorin included, but she’d never admit that-- come to her with their more delicate matters, none of them seemed to possess any respect of privacy. When one travels with a group for as long as they had, she supposed, in the conditions they had, boundaries became a little blurry.
They had treated her with more delicacy through the Quest, though that was probably because of her prized status as female. Despite being only half-dwarrow, she was still considered a treasure, and they had behaved as such. Her sex was also what had almost kept her from joining at all, but thankfully Oín had been able to convince Thorin to take her along as insurance. He wasn’t as young as he once was, and Mahal knew what could happen to any of them, so it was better to have another capable healer along, just in case.
She did prove useful, and ended up becoming their go-to for most things. In their own time, each had learned that she never judged them for their mishaps, no matter how strange they seemed. She’d seen plenty of accidents-- once, Kíli had dared Bofur to do as many push-ups as he could on one hand, with both of Dwalin’s axes stacked on his back. He got through a surprisingly number, but had dislocated his shoulder on the last one. He’d refused to admit to any pain after she’d reset it, but she noticed how strained he looked after a full day of hauling his pack over his shoulders. After everyone else had fallen asleep, she’d sat with him, quietly, and massaged a generous amount numbing salve into the muscles. They’d all had similar situations.
She’d stitched fingers, packed down bandages so they’d be inconspicuous under clothing, pulled out splinters from all manner of places, medicated anxieties, insomnia, and odd bruises. She never asked what happened, and only offered a gentle smile and advice to speed up their healing, whether or not they told.
They all thanked her, too, in their own way. Ori made her a whole new pair of mittens when her old ones began to wear too far to be of use, Dori picked and dried any tea-worthy leaves he could find for her, Bofur made sure she always had a scarf if the wind picked up, and the princes regularly lifted items from her pack to make her journey lighter. Dwalin made sure her modest sword was always razor-sharp. Bombur let her have first pick of whatever they’d managed to scrounge up for meals. Thorin had called her khazush once.
After the Battle to reclaim the Mountain, absolutely no one in the Company would suffer any other healers seeing to the barely-alive Thorin, or his nephews, beyond those assistants she’d chosen personally. Since then, she’d been officially named as the Royal Physician, alongside an aging Oín, but the Durin line was healthy, now. The boys were young and resilient, and only Thorin presented a slight limp where his foot had been pierced through. Most of her time was spent tending to the other twelve dwarves, (and, again, Bilbo, but she had nothing poor to say on his part), and offering advice to the regrowing city of Dale.
Today, she recalled as her gaze traveled over her desk to land on her shopping list, was Sunday, and the colorful market would be taking place in the Hall of Kings. At some point, she should make it down there -- there were a few supplies to gather for the tinctures that needed making. She always enjoyed the markets-- it was wonderful to see such lively activity in a space that seemed so hollow and gloomy.
Her trip was long, as she chatted with at least a dozen vendors, but was otherwise relatively uneventful. Her mind wandered away from her on the trip back, as it usually did, and her feet took her back to her office on their own accord. She only came back to herself when a presence beside her halted her, and suddenly, there was a sweet smell under her nose. She started, drawing back as a golden tart came into focus. Just beyond it was an equally golden moustache, framing a wily smile.
“I swiped two of tonight’s desserts,” Fíli said conspiratorially. “Thought you might appreciate one.”
She reached for the tart he was offering, thanking him with a smile. “You’re very considerate, Fíli.”
“Ah-ah.” he pulled back out of her reach, quirking a brow. “I’m afraid today’s raid has come at a price.”
Y/N frowned, and waited, becoming increasingly suspicious as his grin turned more mischievous.
Sure enough, he continued, “I know Kíli saw you this morning, but he brushed me off so fast I was nearly blown backwards. You’ll get a tart if you tell me why.”
She narrowed her eyes and pushed open the door to her clinic.
“Fíli, you sly devil.”
His devious grin widened. “Getting cold,” he sang, following her to keep the treat in her sights.
She turned up her nose and set her basket down on a workspace. “You know I won’t tell you. Unless you want me to spill all of your secrets to him.”
“Ah, but, I don’t have any secrets.” He propped his hip against her table as she arranged her fresh ingredients. “I’m an open book. All I’ve come to you for are splinters and stubbed toes.”
Y/N picked up the notebook with today’s recipes and turned to her shelving to gather the last couple items, pulling jars down as she spoke. “Do I need to remind you of the first time you came to me with more than just your toe stubbed? Or when you nearly severed your thumb trying to impress that dam when we were passing through Bree?”
This drew a hot blush to not only his cheeks, but all the way up his ears and down his throat. He sputtered, “ah- um, well, that’s -- that was--” and descended into coughs.
Y/N chuckled as she set her bottled down and selected one set to the side, quickly securing a note to the neck. She turned to Fíli, snatched the tart from his hand before he could stop her, and replaced it with the large vial.
“Here. Take this to Balin, it’s for Bard when he visits next. There are ingredients on the note, he can come see me if he has ny questions.“ She tugged on one of his mustache braids and leveled him with a playful glare as he schooled his breath. “Now, go on.”
For the second time that day, a Durin was scurrying out of her clinic with a blush. Again, she sighed as the door closed, and sank into a chair. This time, though, a fond laugh bubbled in her chest as she bit into Fíli’s pastry. Even if they could be ridiculous, at least they gave her life color.
Indeed, boys would be boys, but they were her boys.

thank you so much for doing my eret request!!!! I honestly assumed you've forgotten or didn't have enough time to do it (which is totally understandable since the last year sounds like it was crazy busy for you) but it made me smile when I saw that you finished it. No joke I made the softest most inhuman happy noise when I found it lol- you just made my day- I hope you're having a fantastic day too!
You’re very welcome!! I didn’t forget about you, I just have no concept of time management AT ALL lmao. I make a serious effort to get to absolutely every request that gets sent into me, no matter how long it takes, and alas, sometimes it takes a while. I’m touched that it meant as much to you – it’s this kind of feedback that keeps me motivated (god knows I can’t motivate myself) <3
I’m sitting in an airport for the second day in a row, trying to get back from visiting my mom through this polar vortex, but your nice comment definitely made my day better :) Feel free to ask for more anytime, I’ll be better :P
Hi, I recently stumbled upon your blog and I just finished reading the 2 reader-inserts with Snotlout (which I absolutely adored- they're so good aaa) and I was wondering if I could request a reader insert with Eret? Maybe a sparing match between Eret and a female reader with plenty of light-hearted banter? At the end of it one of them realizes they have feelings for the other? The reader is quiet and takes a while to get used to people but gets sarcastic/playful when comfortable? Thank you :D
Hey babe! I know it’s literally a year late but I can explain lmao.
You were the third person in a week to mention those Snotlout bits! He’s more popular than I thought he was lol.
But Eret. Hunni. That is the kind of animated boy I fell in love with in my early teens. Kit Harington was one of my actual boy crushes when I was, like, 14. This is gonna be a blast to the past.
