Some doodlydoos for my rewrite fic, One Track Mind, One Track Heart. (fully just embracing the hyperfixation while it's hot lmao). Basically a rewrite of the ep 8 ending and onward with things i wished happened/wanted to see, and my takes/theories on some loose plot threads, including Bubble and Caine's whole ordeal.

I want to push a little more into the "circus/freakshow" theme, because some of the canon designs feel more toybox-vibe than the latter.

My thoughts/ideas below if you're curious :)

In this version (au, I guess??), the whole concept is heavier on the "circus" aspect. Same premise as the show, kinda, but instead of adventures they have unique performances, stunts, etc. Sometimes Caine will make "events" or stuff to keep them on their toes, and sometimes they act out things kinda like in ep 5. The circus is a "traveling" one, going to different worlds(maps) that Caine makes (like the candy kingdom, etc.) Their rooms are all caravans, except for Caine's, his in a hot air balloon like in the show.

Kinger - did not realize how FUCKING MASSIVE he is compared to wee pomni until i lined them all up lol. Everyone has "gimmicks" in this version and Kinger's is "conjuring," so His main act is basically magician (it was duel act with his wife) but Ragatha often volunteers to be his assistant. His performances are always a little crazy since the bright spotlights tend to mess with his head. For some odd reason, he doesn't sleep in his caravan but rather in a pillow fort stacked on top of it.

Jax - Leaned a little more into the plush rabbit theme. He has the weird ability to pull objects he desires from his pocket. He used do acrobatics with Ribbit but after her abstraction he stopped completely. Now he's fullly embraced his fate as a circus member and has taken on the role of chaos jokester with a thirst for violence, always jumping for roles that involve that sort of thing. He also convinced Caine to let him be the key holder for a lot of the room, caravans, carts, etc for the humans. Claimed it was so the humans wouldn't have to keep asking Caine to unlock things but Jax just abuses the power to cause mischief.

Gangle - man she was actually the hardest to design oof. She struggles with her act, that being aerial silks, due to not being able to keep her composure for long. On rare occasion, she'll have to do acrobatics with Jax, which the rabbit uses to push her about and do more risky stunts to scare her. She finds peace in being able to draw the circus posters, however!

Pomni - anyone remember that thing about Pomni having a unicorn horn? Well I took that idea and ran with it. She's now 20% more gremlin. Also got rid of those weird sleeves and pants because they always have bugged me. Pomni is still "finding her place" in the circus, and that often means taking part in every act until she finds one that she either good at or likes. She a little more short-tempered in my version but its makes her all the more determined to not leave anyone behind.

Caine - The heart of the circus! He's a bit more bug-like (Kinger is his programmer after all), so he has extra limbs he can retract or even add to as well as little antennae on his hat. Though he has a really hard time understanding the humans, he still tries his best to please them! He is terrified that they'll all abstract so he's constantly trying to keep them busy. Bubble's still here though they play an important role of doing digital maintenance in the code of the circus. Also I think it would be cool if he was really into music, liked singing and playing the piano, a bit similar to in the show.

Ragatha - I didn't want to change her too much since she's adorable as is and she's an excellent homage to one of TADC's inspos, Raggedy Ann. She is a showrider, doing tricks on the circus's carousel-like horses Caine made for her. She's also in charge of moving, since some of the horses help pull the caravans.

Zooble - Leaning more into the animalistic features. I mean come on. their name is ZOOble. I cant NOT. Zooble was proposed to do a sort of freakshow/possible juggling with their parts. To Caine's ever-frustration, they refuse to be a part of the acts and usually end up spending their time wandering about the grounds or serving drinks to the NPC's at the concession stand.

ah screw it... TADC SONA! She's based on murano glass animals, a childhood trinket I had a collection of!

enter Bologob! The circus is her personal hell because so many of her questions cannot be answered. (i.e How is this possible? How was it created? How deep does it go? And why is that purple rabbit such an asshole? ) She constantly tries to overthink and understand everything, something the usually ends with her getting more stressed out in the end. Nevertheless, she's prepared to dig deep into the circus for awnsers.

Once a lonely soul, she's taken back by the kindness of certain members of the circus. She feels she has to prove/return the favor and she's determined to do that by saving her new friends and getting them out of the circus.
