Just a little bite… please?
I can’t believe I never saw these pictures my parents took during one of their dives in Cabo last fall! They went to Cabo for a diving trip hoping to see whale sharks (which they did!) and one of their dives was at a sea lion hotspot!
They’re adorableeee
Photo by Paul Nicklen:
I have been fortunate to have had many orcas swim to within ten feet of me while diving or snorkeling but I have never had a huge male swim within two feet of me. I sucked in my stomach, pulled my housing into my body, and lifted my fins so nothing would touch this huge male as he came in for close inspection. I blindly snapped off a couple of shots on my ultra-wide 16mm lens but I never looked through the viewfinder as I never wanted to miss a second. He swam past Goran Ehlme and I numerous times. It was never scary but rather, incredibly humbling and very special. It is moments like this that I will remember when I look back on this journey through nature.
Orca by Terry & Julie Via Flickr: A male Resident Orca cruising Johnstone Strait for tasty salmon and taking a moment to check out the watchers.
the ultimate frustration: seeing a photo of an orca you recognize but cannot find anywhere in the ID catalog

Stunning
Look what I found: Narnia’s photo, uploaded in November 2014 to her trainer’s (or trainer relative’s) page. Source: (x)

There are a little more than 500 of these majestic whales left.

A Necessary Post
Hi everyone.
I had hoped I wouldn’t need to make this post.
Recently, I have had a few messages on my personal blog from people who followed me here. Let me be clear, there is a reason I left this blog and there is a reason my personal blog is not linked here. I do not know how you are finding my personal blog, and I do not appreciate anon messages.
This is me asking you to refrain from sending me anon messages on my personal blog. This is me asking you to refrain from SEARCHING for my personal blog. It makes me very uncomfortable and anxious.
If the anon messages continue, I will forced to completely removed this blog.
Nord and Narnia on Slide Out at Moscvarium 22?/06/15 Source: (x)
The source says:
Opening of a new oceanarium at VDNKh soon! We are looking forward to :))) A huge work has been done; the main thing is that nothing like that can be seen in Europe! Special thanks to all designers and decorators ☺😉😜
All, that I see on Mosqvarium site:
Aquarium called «Center of Oceanography and Marine Biology “Moskvarium"» here;
Few Ikaika’s and Keto’s photoshopped photos on the site;
Vrtual tour will be available after the opening of the aquarium;
One of the headlines on the website says: "sea is endless!”. Well, the tanks are not.
Map of the building.
Prices are enormous: considering current financial situation in my country, I don’t even know who will visit it. Only businessmans and politics?
UPD: I FOUND OUT THAT THEY NOTED HUMPBACK WHALE (PHOTO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SITE) AS SPERM WHALE, WUT
Animals:
As I get it, there will be both day- («Not boring lesson») and evening-time («Pompero») shows;
Of course there are swimming with dolphin programms and dolphin therapy thing;
8 bottlenosed dolphins are in the aqurium: 6 females (Harmony, Silva, Rizza, Kathrin, Daisy, Lora) and 2 males (Borei, Bosya);
3 orcas are in the aquarium: 2 females (Juliet, Narnia) and 1 male (Nord);
Their photo posted here;
What the website says about them:
«The family of killer whales is not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the strongest, especially if we talk about Nord, because he feels responsible for all the members of the pod. However, orcas have a matriarch and Nord is not: sensitive, carefull and responsible Narnia always ready to soften the harsh temper of Nord. Surprisingly, these two opposites are close to each other and protect the smallest member of their family - baby Juliet, helping her to learn this world full of unimaginable wonders. (personal note: empty tank with spotlights! Yeah, such wonders, especially when you were the apex predator of the ocean and you are one of the most intelligent animals in the world!). Curiosity, among other things, promotes good appetite, because the orca eats 70 kilograms of fish per day!»
Also two belugas in the aquarium: male Ponchik (his name translates as “donut” .-. ) and female Ponka;
Site says, that belugas and dolphins will be performing together (this means the water temberature will be fucked up);
Two female walruses - Eva and Klava;
Two female south american sea lions - Suri and Luna;
Eight Baikal seals: Chuck, Motya, Kuzya, Chuk, Panda, Lucky, Luntik and Maya (5 males and 3 females ???)
