Week Two Progress Report
Welcome back again to the weekly update for my thrilling senior project. Week two came with many challenges that while some might have been upset about I found fun to work through. There is nothing better than watching a project come together no matter the challenges that you are faced with.
Key Project Points & Talking Requirements:
Hours worked on this project this week: 10
Hows worked on this project overall: 25
Expected progress for this week: It was projected that I would be working with cross functional teams to get the project plan and budget underway. I am unable to move forward with anything else until that is completed. The bigger issue that I will run in to is availability from both the cross functional teams and vendors that I need information from to move past this part of the process.
Actual Process This Week: I was able to meet with multiple cross functional teams and vendors in order to get a better idea of what work they were going to need to do in order to get the HL7 worked to completion. There are multiple teams that I did not get to sit down with and will need to work with them next week to finalize the timeline and resource budget.
Issues That Arose: Scheduling issues with teams to do a walk through of the workflow that they would to follow in order to complete this conversion successfully.
Expected Progress Next Week: I am going to continue working with the other teams to identify all work that needs to be done by each time to complete this HL7 conversion. Once I have done that I will be able to build the MPP and the budget as a whole in order to get the initial project documents to the shareholders & management for a final go ahead for the project itself and then we can kick off all work.
This is the longest part of the Project Management process when kicking off a new project. Within the next 2 weeks the plan should be completed and this is when the real work will begin for all teams involved.
