They’re getting drunk again. She wants to tell them that it’s a little too late for alcohol, but they’d probably write her off as a buzzkill. Ha. Ha. Ha. The irony of it disgusts her.
“Yo, Neru! You want in on this action?”
Some asshole. He’s got his left arm wrapped around her all cozy and snug. The other one’s trying to balance a 12oz Bloody Mary. Tomato drinks are for amateurs. Vegetables don’t belong in drinks. She shrugs him off.
There are some whispers. Angry whispers, callous whispers, gossipy whispers. All kinds of whispers. And then there is him; loud-mouthed, attention-seeking piece of shit.
“Nee—ruuuuuuuuu!”
Absolutely disgusting.
He nudges her again, but this time, she doesn’t push back. It’s too tiring, this lame routine. Instead, she tries to steady her gaze against her cellphone. She haphazardly flicks the screen, searching for some sort of distraction, some sort of hint for him to take and ——
“Neru, are you ignoring me? I’m right here, you knooow——urrp——” He pauses to take a swig of his drink. She cringes internally. ”You’re really hurtin’ my feeeeelings heree——”
His breath smells. Like alcohol. And tomatoes. She hates tomatoes. All vegetables, actually. Except carrots, maybe. Carrots are nice. Carrots aren’t assholes like the guy currently wearing her shoulder like a pillow. Carrots don’t——...ugh. He’s leaning against her now.
“Hey, can you...” What was she even going to say? Neru bit down on her inner cheek. “I’m not ignoring you. I just... Don’t want to talk that much right now.”
”That’s OK. You don’t have to talk. That much.”
She’s skeptical. Definitely skeptical. This guy is bad news, that’s for sure.
“My name’s Billy.”
“Nice to meet you, Billy.”
”Is it really that nice?”
No. No, it is not. She swipes at her phone again. Nothing. Nothing good enough to completely strip her attention away from this idiot. Billy. Come on, there was no way that was his name. Even the way he said it sounded unnatural. Billy. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ain’t he a clever one?
“H—hey, Neru. Why’dja come if you didn’t like parties, huh?”
“I never said I didn’t like parties.”
His grin bothers her. If he wanted to get into someone’s pants, he chose the wrong girl. She’s not interested, Billy. Sorry, not sorry. Geez, leave her alone already!
"My friend dragged me along,” Neru said. She wonders if her voice sounds firm. Probably not; it came out too quiet to be firm. “I’m just her moral support.”
excuse me mun i hope im not coming off as a bother !! but how did you do the effect on the self promo banner that you did? i cant remember if you did a new one but if so i mean the old one, like the picture in your settings picture or something ; w ; with the smoke looking effect thingy?? i hope i didnt come off as too confusing ;;

alright alright, i saved this gif onto my computer, opened it in photoshop (pretty sure any version of photoshop works), and then opened the background banner picture. then i copied the banner picture and pasted it as the bottom layer of the gif animation, making it visible in all of the frames. then, i selected all of the frames and all of the layers associated with the smoke gif. under the blend settings, i put screen (other tutorials say to use lighten or other things, i guess whichever works best for you, you can play around with it). once you do that, you should have the effect and then you can go and change the colors manually and do things of the like.
**if you have a gif background banner, the amount of frames in the gif should ideally be the same amount of frames as the smoke animation for everything to match smoothly. if you use a gif, it's also best not to have any crucial animations in the first few frames because a lot of those frames aren't visible. :'')
