With the new patch that came out today I wanted to point out, for those not familiar with it, that the CAS content included is NOT Halloween content, but Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) content. This is a holiday that combines thousands of years old indigenous Mexican traditions with the Catholic traditions of All Saints/All Souls Day that were brought over by invading Spaniards from Europe.
I know cultural appropriation has been a big topic in the sims community lately, and this is another area where, if you’re not from that culture, you should learn about the cultural significance of the clothes and makeup available to you, and not disrespect the people or their culture by using their symbols and beliefs as fashion or Halloween costumes for your sims. If you want to use the items, take this as an opportunity to introduce more diverse sims into your game instead.

So I see this post and think.. really though?? I see people dress up like devil nuns and priest every year can I get a post explaining to people how that could be considered disrespectful to Christians? If someone wants to dress their sims like day of the dead for Halloween (many humans in real life do. its a easy Halloween costume to find this time of year and sugar skulls are part of everyday fashion now) then please do don't let other peoples opinions mess with your creations. day of the day stuff is hot this season all over America . I haven't seen one post on the forums calling this new patch disrespectful or anyone one getting upset about their day of the dead sim. I'm not saying it hasn't happen I'm just saying it cant be that big of a deal I see lots of sim drama but haven't seen this mention. if you think people are being disrespectful about day of the dead by making it a costume then don't you make it a costume. You shouldn't tell others how to play or build their sims. Its a free game to be played any way you want. You think I love the fact males can become pregnant? no I just simple don't us that feature not lecture the world on why they also shouldn't. Players gonna hate well then they shouldn't play ;) The PC police making the world a total drag!
