Everyone freaking out over that Radio Times interview because of what Michelle said and nobody paying attention to what Emma said about the Cain/Charity scene, which basically solves the mystery of why it’s been bothering me so much!

She basically said it was originally supposed to be more aggressive but they (not sure who they is) decided to play it a bit more “tender”, her word not mine, the intention being that it’s a sad moment for Cain at his lowest and she can shake it off pretty easily and it didn’t mean anything. Which would be fine except it felt like everything else was written, and filmed, around the original idea of him actually being aggressive. (Also the fact that Cain being aggressive and trying to use Charity to make himself feel better is 100% in keeping with his character, even if they are both in different places now) Vanessa threatening to report him for assault makes a lot more sense if what they filmed was supposed to be more aggressive, as does Charity looking quite upset when she came back.

I have no idea what went on with the production of this week’s episodes but it seems an awful lot of what was written either didn’t get filmed, got filmed differently, was cut, or was never supposed to happen in the first place?!

Anyway, there was something about that whole scene and the scenes following it that just didn’t feel right to me and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, and I think that’s probably what it was.
