I rewatched San Junipero. Years after I watched it for the first time, no longer as naive, as superficial, as hopeful. No longer a teen. You don't realise how a little more experience changes the way you look at and understand certain stories, it's insane.

I have so much empathy for Yorkie - the pain of not being accepted, suffering the consequences of something you did in distress, the years of being trapped, the life she's lost. The scene in the restroom when she asked of Kelly to make it easier for her made me so soft for her, because I just know the feeling of knowing what you want but not knowing how to get it. And in the end i shed a tear but this time not because it was sad, instead because I was happy for the new chance in life (well, afterlife) Yorkie got. She finally gets to live, be herself, be with someone she loves and who loves her. For eternity.

In other words, as Tumblr folk like to say,

Yorkie should be protected at all costs.
