Nesta and Cassian by covaleinne [instagram]
Dorian was referred to as a King without a Crown.
Nesta has been referred to as a Queen without a Throne.
I love foreshadowing!
Now that the ACOTAR hype is dying down on booktok, I love the fact that people with sense are now reading the books.
I'm seeing folks clock the weirdo dynamics between the inner circle and their VICIOUS hypocrisy towards everyone else when they do the same exact things, if not worse.
Like the whole Nesta intervention because she was "drinking and whoring," when Cassian and Azriel have fucked and drank everything within Velaris for HUNDREDS of years is insane.
I also love that they clock the sheer emotional immaturity of the inner circle as well. Like for people who are hundreds of years old, they are NOT very well adjusted individuals at all.
This is a Rhys hate account btw idc i cant stand him.
Tell him “Ember sends her regards”
Her [Nesta] already proud, angular face had turned more so, her cheekbones sharp enough to slice.

This is just one reason why I don't take what Feyre says at face value.
Feyre: Nesta is so selfish!
Nesta:
*Spent her entire childhood protecting Elain and Feyre from being beat and verbally abused by their grandmother*
*Spent her entire childhood protecting Feyre from being groomed by their mother*
*Spent her entire life protecting Elain*
*Did the cooking that kept her family alive during their years in poverty*
*Chopped the wood that kept her family warm during their years in poverty*
*Did the household chores during their years in poverty*
*Had Feyre try to teach her how to hunt*
*Reached out to family members for financial assistance*
*Was willing to marry into an abusive family to keep Elain fed and to not be a burden on Feyre*
*Was willing to sell her body on the streets to keep Elain fed*
*Had Feyre teach her how to paint so they could spend some time together, doing what Feyre loved*
*Hired a mercenary to help her try to rescue Feyre from Prythian*
*Was willing to get her family out of the human lands if war broke out*
*Told Feyre to go back to Tamlin instead of being burdened by her family*
*Allowed Feyre and the IC to meet with the human queens in her home, knowing she would be killed if discovered*
*Urged the human queens to help the humans beneath the wall and to give their Book of Breathings to Feyre and the IC*
*Calculated how many ships it would take to get out every human beneath the wall*
*Pushed aside her own trauma to spend weeks taking care of Elain when she was in a comatose state*
*Worked with Amren to try to figure out how to repair the wall*
*Told Cassian to go protect Feyre when they were attacked by Hybern's Ravens*
*Went to the High Lord's meetings to convince them to help the humans*
*Went to Greyson's Manor to protect Elain and try to encourage them to protect the humans*
*Went with the IC from war camp to war camp to be a warning bell for when the Cauldron was in use*
*Scried for the Cauldron*
*Used herself as bait for the King of Hybern so Feyre and Amren could reach the Cauldron*
*Baited the King of Hybern away from Cassian so he wouldn't kill him*
*Was willing to take the full brunt of the King of Hybern's power so Cassian wouldn't*
*Was willing to die for Feyre, for Cassian, and for all of Prythian*
*Used Feysand's money to support local, small businesses after the war*
*Encouraged Gwyn, Emerie, and the other priestesses to come to training to help them with their trauma*
*Scried for the Dread Trove*
*Had Cassian drop her in a tree so he could go help Az in the Bog of Oorid*
*Left the safety of the tree to make sure Cass and Az were alright*
*Wanted to discard or destroy the Dread Trove to keep it from falling in the wrong hands rather than using its power for her own gain*
*Helped Gwyn by finding and switching books and sticking up for her when Merrill caught wind of it*
*Made Cassian come first and never demanded he reciprocate*
*Gave Cassian a blowjob as comfort when he was in a bad mood*
*Gave Emerie salt and spices*
*Told Feyre the truth about her pregnancy*
*Saved Cassian's life by killing Lanthys*
*Went up to talk to Az when he was more aloof than usual during Winter Solstice*
*Tried to get Az to smile when he was in a mood after Winter Solstice*
*Accepted the darkness of the HoW without judgment*
*Brought her symphonia to morning training so everyone could listen to music*
*Got Emerie hot chocolate as a gift*
*Found and protected Emerie during the Blood Rite*
*Found, protected, and saved Gwyn's life during the Blood Rite*
*Carried Gwyn up a good portion of Ramiel*
*Stayed behind and was willing to sacrifice her life so Gwyn and Emerie would win the Blood Rite*
*Willing to let Cassian kill her so Briallyn wouldn't get her hands on the Dread Trove*
*Sacrificed her powers to save Feyre, Nyx, and Rhysand's lives*
*Wanted an ornate mating ceremony, but was willing to do whatever Cassian wanted instead*
*Said 'I love you' to Cassian without him returning the sentiment*
*Came to help with Bryce when the IC asked*
*Agreed to chase after Bryce and see where her eight-pointed star led*
*Killed the Middengard Wyrm to protect Az, Bryce, and their world*
*Gave Bryce the Mask to defeat the Asteri, free Midgard, and save all worlds even though she was almost executed for it*
*Offered protection to Ember and Randall*
Yet Nesta antis still go around saying she's oh-so-selfish.
Rereading the Archeron sisters' interactions and filtering out Feyre's assumptions and projections is wild.
Take the scene where Nesta pulls Feyre away from the mercenary.
If you strip Feyre’s projections (marked in yellow) out of the scene, what happens is pretty straightforward.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nesta pulls her younger sister away from a shady situation, then reveals that she and Elain had actually been mugged by mercenaries before.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feyre responds with a question that might sound a lot like victim-blaming to Nesta.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nesta explains that there was no real option to report it and that Feyre, a malnourished teenager, realistically wouldn't have been able to take on multiple adult men (which is likely accurate).
The use of the verb "sneered" here really impacts how we, as the reader, understand this assertion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feyre takes offense and makes a passive-aggressive dig about Tomas Mandray (a sore subject from a previous argument).
Nesta doesn't seem to take the bait and pivots the conversation, pointing out that Isaac Hale is waiting for Feyre.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s when Feyre reveals to the reader that she’s sleeping with Isaac-- even though he’s engaged.
In the context of this patriarchal world, the implication of this likely extends beyond being 'the other woman' or being 'promiscuous.' Feyre's actions could’ve destroyed the family’s reputation, making all three sisters unmarriable and disgraced in town.
It also makes Feyre telling Nesta that she couldn't marry Tomas because "there’s one thing he wants from her, and it’s not her hand in— [marriage]" a bit hypocritical.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nesta expresses concern about Feyre using protection.
Feyre snaps back, but then admits to the reader she can’t afford contraceptives, which means Nesta’s concern was reasonable.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feyre describes Nesta as having “hissed” and “sneered” and even trying to smile sweetly for money. But we’re relying entirely on Feyre’s interpretation to learn Nesta's intent and demeanor, and as the series goes on, we see just how often Feyre misreads people’s intentions and situations.
This is a narrator who said her sister was 'born with a sneer on her face." Even if we assume she's speaking figuratively, Feyre would not have known how Nesta was as a young child... she wasn't born yet!
Ultimately, we’re seeing two young women coping with trauma in different, messy ways. Neither comes out blameless. But is Nesta the “evil stepsister” tormenting Feyre in ACOTAR, as some fans think? I'm not convinced.
can you make an old age of Nesta?? I'm sure she would to serve MOTHER! (maybe with reading glasses, I'm sure!!!) I would call her mommy. I love your art of her, you make her the most beautiful of all, I love how you draw her hair loose.
Old Nesta and Old Rhys are in constant competition on who looks sluttier in reading glasse
“Never again. Never again would she be weak. Never again would she be at someone’s mercy. Never again would she fail. Never again, never again, never again.”

Commission I did for @nestastits of Nesta from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas 🪦🗡️Â
Tamlin telling Nesta in ACOSF "You are just as nasty as your sister said you'd be", is such a rage baiting exchange between them for me. It very clearly highlights the way that Feyre victimizes herself to every single person she meets, to the point where every character that she interacts with before her sisters comes away thinking that Nesta is the person that should be held responsible for everything that Feyre has gone thru. In doing so, Feyre basically lays the groundwork for all the negative interactions that Nesta has with anyone that Feyre gets to first - because everyone ends up tripping all over themselves to become one of Feyre's many revenge proxies. Tamlin, Rhysand - and by extension the Inner Circle - all of them get the same sob story and all come away with the same conclusion about Nesta. It's not their mother that gets any blame, or their father and definitely not Elain, it is ALWAYS Nesta.
And if this isn't a huge sign to the reader that Feyre is not only an unreliable narrator but that she is a very bias one, I don't know what is.....but most people still do not get it! I was calling bullshit from Book 1, but I guess I'm some kind of anomaly.
Just about the only thing that ACOSF got right was to point out that anyone that Nesta met in the series outside of Feyre, likes her and gets along with her fine..., but it also felt like too little to late for me.
And I'll add this - and this goes out to the "as an older sibling, I would never" crowd - I have 3 siblings, and the way that we treated each other growing up makes the Archeron sisters look like saints. We said and did some really wild things to each other growing up. One thing I never did and will never do, is bad mouth my siblings to anyone that I just met. The last thing I would ever want or would allow is for someone who barely knows my siblings at all to treat them negatively on my behalf. That is a very hard line in the sand that I do not allow people to cross.
what really gets me is that the IC literally state they're using Elain to manipulate Nesta into doing what they want her to do and then feyre patronizes Nesta and says they had no choice and then ELAIN takes her frustration out on NESTA like Nesta isn't the victim of the whole situation??? like what
reread the solstice scene from acofas and was surprised at how pleasant nesta was the entire time. from the way people talk about it, and from Cassian's reaction after she leaves, you'd think she was hissing and insulting everyone in the room. but no.
nesta wishes feyre happy birthday, she thanks elain for her gifts, and sits quietly, allowing them to continue with their presents. meanwhile mor gives cassian silk boxers that match the lingerie set he got her. nesta even kisses elain on the head before she leaves. she is 100% polite.
the next chapter is Cassian's pov and it starts with "he'd had enough. enough of the coldness, the sharpness. enough of the sword-straight spine and razor-sharp stare that had only honed itself these months"
BRO SHE WAS JUST SITTING THERE
nothing's gonna hurt you, baby ♥
THAT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE
It's so funny that feyre is like "nesta made her own choices" about a 14 year old girl (MAX) when Amren said that their mother weaponized Nestas love of dancing. lmao what the fuck
less "can you handle a mean female character" or more "can you handle a female character that has unpalatable traits to you personally but would shrug off if a male character had them"
