Salt and Light (i.e. Christian) fanfiction writers, what's one thing you've learned about writing fanfiction from a Christian perspective? How is it different from writing original fic or writing fanfic without a Christian lens? (Brought to you by a very new Salt and Light fanfic writer trying to do this for the first time)
If you're a believer in anything, those beliefs will bleed into your work. Vegan, environmentalist, pro-gun, anti-gun, etc. Writing a story is a place to think about topics and wrestle with them, and Christianity is no different. Some fanfic universes are better for it than others, where the world building gives you some great metaphors. Sonic the Hedgehog? Can be done, but tricky. Destiny 2? It's handed to you on a platter with the Light/Darkness thing. Star Wars is trickier but I've seen it done brilliantly. Pokemon? Hello Arceus, the Pokemon Jesus. Final Fantasy 14? More Light/Darkness. You can find symbolism in any universe if you think about it long enough. Then you chase those themes in your stories to add layers of wonder and delight. I like nothing more than to sink my teeth into a fic where the author isn't afraid to mess with the supernatural, and the implications, and its effects on the characters.

So like what if Cayde-6's body jumped up and started running around and cutting people down with makeshift swords? And out at the edge of known space, a ship full of weird kids appeared and they're using transference on dead exos?
...and live ones.
I came up with a Destiny 2 AU where Ghosts can make human-shaped holograms around their shells using the Light. It's lowkey inspired by @jam-etc's drawings of human versions of a few NPC Ghosts.
