Understanding Hypersensitivity and the ADHD Brain — ADDept
This information about how ADHD brain wiring is different than neurotypicals. People used to say 'ADHD is over diagnosed' but most of the time (if not every time) when someone says they have ADHD, it's because they actually do. I knew I had ADHD before I was diagnosed. I remember seeing the information on a bulleten. I went down the symptom list, and thought 'that sounds just like me'! I got some help in getting the lagistics happening, I went to the appointment, and was officially diagnosed. I don't know anyone that would say they have ADHD unles they actually have it. That's also the case for any other neurodivergent diagnosis, even if they do the tests online, apart from a psychologist or any other 'so called' professional. If some says they have are a neurodivergent, they probably are. It's more likely that a neurodivergent would mask 'that happens a lot' than a neurotypical acting like a neurodivergent. For many neurodivergents masking is very energy consuming. I know for me it is. I mask around neurotypicals for varyouse reasons. But for you neurotypicals, if you could meet us in the middle, instead of expecting neurodivergents to fit in your box, or merely tolerate us, it would make it a lot easier for us if you would educate yourself on what it's like to be neurodivergent, and see us differently. See our traits as features instead of bugs. We don't fit into your perfect boxes.
