Welcome! Neurodivergent Tech Week is a celebration of what Tech means to neurodivergent fans who see a lot of themselves in his characterization. From July 26th to August 2nd, we will celebrate our wonderful and diverse neurodivergent Tech headcanons with fanworks of all kinds. Through loving Tech, we can learn to better love ourselves.
Welcome! Neurodivergent Tech Week is a fandom event where you get to create fanworks about Tech being autistic or otherwise neurodivergent in some way and post them from July 25th to August 2. It is also a celebration of the space that The Bad Batch fandom has created for autistic/neurodivergent people and our allies! Hereâs how it works:
1. People can submit prompts up until July 12. I will then release two lists of prompts â one SFW and another NSFW â that you can pick from each day of the event. There are no restrictions on what prompts you do on what day.
2. Starting on July 26th, you can post fanworks and tag them as #ndTechWeek2026. I will reblog them to this blog.
3. NSFW submissions will be tagged as such and placed under a content label so that they are not visible to minors.
Ready to get started? Here are some relevant links:
Just a quick heads-up: you have five more days left to submit prompts, so if there is one that you really want to see added, feel free to submit it now!
Hello again folks! Itâs almost July, and once the month begins, you will have 12 days to submit prompts before submissions close! We have a collection started, but we would love more! đ
Prompt idea that definitely isn't relevant to something in the works: internalized meltdown
Alt forms:
meltdown, shutdown, autistic overwhelm
Other random ideas:
attentional control, rituals / compulsions / routines, unfamiliarity avoidance, alexithymia, accidental antagonism
Other random ideas part 2:
neurodevelopmental disorder as a superpower, acquiring / discarding a coping mechanism, failing to notice / dismissing symptoms, misdiagnosis (medical or informal), unusual / unexpected comfort, empathy between neurotypes
This is a long, fantastic list of prompts! Thank you!
Hey folks! We are in the middle of taking prompts! Anything that can be used as a creative springboard for a Tech fanwork exploring autism and/or neurodivergence in general is welcome.
The event itself will start on July 25. Learn more here!
Submissions are officially open for Neurodivergent Tech Week 2026 prompts. You may submit any prompt that somehow centers Tech and autism and/or other neurodivergences. NSFW submissions are allowed, but will be placed behind a content warning label and reside on our alternative âAfter Darkâ prompt list.
More information about the event can be found here.
This is a concern that Iâve seen raised, and I wanted to clear the air about it in one post. Tech is more or less canonically autistic, and I can kind of see why some might interpret me using the broader term âneurodivergentâ as an attempt to somehow downplay that. I want to reassure you that this is not and never was my goal.
Neurodivergent conditions can be radically different, but many still have overlapping traits or even present together in the same person! Someone like Tech might also have ADHD in addition to being autistic, and some people with conditions like OCD, NVLD, and ADHD might relate to some experiences of autistic people and by extension, Tech. I want to make this event a safe space to explore both autism and co-occurring/adjacent conditions. Many people experience autism alongside co-occurring conditions that overlap so much with autism that itâs hard to tell where one ends and another begins. Your Mod (me!) is Autistic and also has ADHD and OCD. These three conditions are so entangled that itâs hard to tell which one is responsible for a particular trait or symptom, and I think that people in this community who deal with a similar configuration of disabilities should have space to explore that complexity through Tech.
I also donât want to invoke gatekeeping in any way, shape or form. We are currently in the midst of a moral panic about people âfakingâ autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities, and these accusations of fakery disproportionately effect populations who are under-diagnosed and thus, underrepresented in autism related media (ie: women, POC, adults, etc) and I donât want to invite that kind of cruelty here. Hell, Tech himself is an adult man of color, so he doesnât 100% fit the stereotypical autism profile, either!
1. All fanworks must be about Tech being neurodivergent in some way. That is, after all, the theme of this event :).
2. Tag all entries with #NDTech2026 so that I can find them and reblog them here.
3. Only submit your own creations. Do not steal or repost other peopleâs work and attempt to pass it off as your own. This extends to generative ai since it relies on datasets sourced from unsuspecting creators without their knowledge or consent to spit out prompts. Donât worry, though, I wonât comb over written submissions for em-dashes. I am an em-dash enthusiast myself and I do all of my own writing! :)
4. If you want to submit an 18+ work for our âAfter Darkâ sub-event, then please make sure to give it a community label so that it cannot be viewed by younger (under 18) participants.
5. Tag anything that may be triggering to some viewers so that people can effectively curate their experience. Remember, it is better to over-tag than under-tag. You can never be too cautious.
6. No gatekeeping. Neurodivergence is a massive and varied umbrella of identities. No one person is the sole arbiter of what âcountsâ.
7. Leave your fandom wank at the door. This is an event meant to celebrate our diverse fandomâs neurodivergent Tech headcannons. Donât derail with shipping discourse or harassment.
8. On a similar note, no bullying, harassment, or name-calling of any kind will be tolerated. This is a safe space. In the immortal words of Bill and Ted, âbe excellent to each otherâ.
9. Be respectful in your portrayal of Tech. Make sure to research any neurodiverse conditions that you yourself do not have before featuring them in your works. Also, keep in mind that Tech is a clone of a guy based on Temuera Morrison, who MÄori. Avoid whitewashing.
10. Feel free to include shipping in your works. All ships are welcome so long as everyone is a consenting adult. :)
Hey thanks for hosting the event this week! Iâve never participated in an event like this before so it was really cool to have a part in it âşď¸â¨
Iâm so glad that youâve enjoyed this event! Thatâs what itâs here for. :)
ND-Tech week day:6 prompt:social battery drain. Short and sweet. I had a medical thing today and only had enough time for this. Please enjoy! :)
Once back from yet another mission -one that involved talking with people pretty much nonstop- Cid decided that now would be the perfect time to show off her errand boys to potential clients.
The noises of the parlor faded into the background as Tech watched the bubbles of his drink rise and burst with an almost inaudible pop. âGoggles! Goggles, are you listening?â Cid was snapping her fingers in his face.
His gaze was blank as he set the drink aside and walked off.
âWhatâs his deal?â Cid scoffs. Hunter glares at her. âItâs been a long week. Weâre all tired.â He replies, leaving to follow his brother.
Tech lay face down, his goggles on their hook above his bed and his ear buds in playing soft music.
âIâm alright, Hunter.â He states upon hearing Hunterâs heavy boots on the floor. âThere are simply too many people for my liking right now. Please send Cid my apologies.â
Hunter nods in understanding and turns to leave, leaving Tech to recharge his social battery.
Final day of ND-Tech week! Day:7 prompt: self-destructive meltdown. My apologies that this one might be a bit lacking. Based off of my own experiences, this one was a bit difficult for me to write.
This one will require tags: meltdown, dermotillomania, small amounts of blood, unintentional SH
Tech started off fine. He felt fine. At least thatâs what he told himself. It was fine that Wrecker messed up his tool organization system again. It was fine that Crosshair and Hunter were in another screaming match. It was fine that Echo cut him off mid sentence. It was fine. He was fine.
Except he wasnât.
He picked at the skin around his nails while his head swam. He wished it didnât bother him so much. His fingers started to bleed the more he picked. His legs bounced uncontrollably the more he sat with his thoughts. Why did it bother him so much when he knew it shouldnât? Why couldnât he just be normal.
That word. Normal. It was like something flipped in his mind. All those times that the regs had called him a freak. Every time they did something to purposefully set him off.
All his life people called him âuniqueâ but that was just code for weird. He felt like a failed personality experiment. And in his mind, he was.
As his thoughts spiraled, so did his picking. Only now it wasnât picking, now his nails dug into his arms hard, nearly breaking the skin. And oh force did it hurt. Not his nails in his skin, but the weight on him. The weight that this was who he was. That he will never be normal.
He was angry. Angry that he could never look people in the eyes, angry that he was âtoo directâ, angry that no matter what he did, he couldnât seem to fit in. Tech wanted to break something. To scream. To release all that pent up frustration. Tech didnât even notice he was crying, or that he suddenly couldnât breathe anymore.
Techâs chest felt tight, as if someone was squeezing his lungs. He released his iron grip on his arms, his thumbs rubbing over the red crescents left there before moving to pull at his hair. âItâs okay.â He repeated in a futile attempt to slow his breathing and calm down.
The thoughts were loud and overwhelming, the sobs worsted to the point of exhaustion. He shook violently as his cries wracked his body. After several minutes of this, the tears finally subsided. Techâs exhaustion got the better of him, the intensity of it all knocking him out for the night.
