Chelsea Manning, the whistle blower responsible for providing classified material to WikiLeaksâincluding the captured video of U.S drone strikes purposely targeting Reuters journalist Saeed Chmagh, Namir Nool-Eldeen and several other civilian targetsâhas served 6 years of her 35 year prison sentence in military jail. this is more than any whistle blower in american history has ever served. she faced solitary confinement for one full year prior to her trial and has been returned to solitary confinement after attempting suicide. As a trans woman, Manning faced further persecution when seeking proper healthcare and treatment and was forced to protest in hunger strike in order to seek transition surgery.
Chelsea Manning courageously declined a plea deal during her trial, stood by her actions, and accepted the full sentence when it was announced to her. Manning is a hero who undertook an immense personal cost to bring crimes committed by American military to public attention. During a time of uncertainty, speculation and overlooked concerns, Manning substantiated the claims of Iraqi and Afghan civilians with irrefutable proof.Â
She is a hero who deserves a full and unconditional pardon from Barack Obama, but is only asking for release with time served for her 35 year prison sentence.Â
You can read the formal commutation application sent to Barack Obama hereÂ
You can donate to Chelsea Manningâs cause hereÂ
You can sign Amnesty Internationalâs petition to seek clemency for Chelsea Manning here.Â
Chelsea Manning is a hero. She deserves freedom and safety and to live the life she is entitled to.Â
Also, make calls if you can, there are numbers to reach the white house, there are numbers for Democratic Senators and Representatives who can put pressure on the Obama administration. Large volumes of calls on a specific topic disrupt the day to day affairs and get attention, and the bulk of this post would make an excellent script. Letâs put pressure on because Iâm worried she wonât survive another 4 years of what will likely be even worse treatment than sheâs getting now.
The petition link didnât work, but this one does: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/commute-chelsea-mannings-sentence-time-served-1
i really, really need to get out of my current living situation. im unsafe here and experience constant physical and emotional abuse. i buy my own food and other necessities and have to uber to and from work because im too disabled to drive a car. i was gonna go back to school next semester, but considering the constant abuse i experience i donât think ill be able to make it that far without transportation.
right now im tryna focus on getting another job (even though i can barely handle 18 hours / week because of my disability. every day i live here just makes me feel more and more hopeless, and ive been very suicidal because of the constant abuse and my inability to do anything about it
im honestly terrified of what will happen to me if i stay here much longer. i really want to get an apartment or move into a roommate situation, but as it is i make under 600 dollars a month, and i canât afford to leave with that.
this is really incoherent because my abuser just triggered a panic attack (for the tenth time in the last week). my younger sibling is now hitting me and trying to destroy my things because our mother has taught him that thatâs okay for him to do. heâs only six and developmentally disabled like me, and i worry for how my presence in the home affects him due to how my mother treats me im front of him.
anyway my paypal is [email protected] and my google wallet is [email protected]. ill be making a new youcaring soon, too! please help me if you can âŚ
A Caddo Nation tribal leader has just been freed after spending two days behind bars in North Dakota. Family members say she was simply an innocent bystander in a clash between police and protesters, and was not guilty of anything the police claimed. Jessi Mitchell, of local News 9 reports that "family members of Caddo Nation chairwoman Tamara Francis-Fourkiller said an anonymous donor paid $2.5 ...

HOLY SHIT
This is a fake. Sorry. And itâs slowing down real donations.
(Snopes says theyâre reaching out for confirmation but I can tell you that I just donated to the legal fund like four hours ago (11/10/2016) and theyâre not in the clear yet - theyâre also accepting Paypal donations but theyâre only 75% of their goal on the crowdfunding website. Lawyers are expensive, legal fees are expensive, they arrested well over a hundred people and are trying to stick them with felony charges. Bail alone is four figures. Please donât let them disrupt NDN lives and break up NDN families and social structures with a prison sentence - not any more than they already are.)Â
Six things you can do to help
They are struggling right now. Please boost.
âwhat if Trump and Pence make it illegal to be asexual?â they donât care! they have never cared! this is the wrong fucking time for your oppression fantasy!Â
Ok while I agree that that particular thought is 100% ridiculous, Penceâs championship of conversion therapy for those who donât bend to his idea of normative sexuality is worrying even for asexuals. Because there /is/ a historical precedence for attempted âconversionâ of people with little to no sex drive, and this has resulted in practices with horrifying consequences like electrotherapy, hormone therapy, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and more. Asexuals are not exempt from conversion therapy, because conversion therapy is about deviance from the norm of heterosexuality and the roles and expectations within that space. Asexuality is just that, and there are people out there that would (and have) forced or coerced their children or partners into such practices because of it.
âPenceâs championship of conversion therapy for those who donât bend to his idea of normative sexuality is worrying even for asexualsâ
âconversion therapy is about deviance from the norm of heterosexuality and the roles and expectations within that spaceâ
his platform about conversion therapy was about denying funding to LGBT orgs because they âcelebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus,â and instead allocating it for conversion therapy programs that can help stop those âbehaviors.â it was about gay sex. it had nothing to fucking do with asexuality.Â
trying to rewrite the reality of who Pence has targeted to include yourselves is appalling. shame on you.Â
âThere is often talk of human rights, but it is also necessary to talk of the rights of humanity. Why should some people walk barefoot, so that others can travel in luxurious cars? Why should some live for thirty-five years, so that others can live for seventy years? Why should some be miserably poor, so that others can be hugely rich? I speak on behalf of the children in the world who do not have a piece of bread. I speak on the behalf of the sick who have no medicine, of those whose rights to life and human dignity have been denied.âÂ
