tldr;

was pretty big on sports when she was younger, still is but not as much. blames her dad for always playing whatever sport she wanted, but never good enough to go pro.

she never really knew what she wanted to be when she grew up, but once she moved to seoul at the age of nine she met another girl that pretty much insipred her to become an idol.

took a lot of dance lessons because that was the easiest to get her hands on and her parents were extremly supportive of her. jules finally had something she was genuenly interested so her parents did whatever they could to get her to become a trainee.

she focused mainly on ballroom and hiphop, but started branching out as she got more comfortable.

so she worked hard and failed a lot. took her six years to get signed and thena nother seven to debut. extremely hard worker really, she was a ball of sunshine during trainee days despite being stuck in the basement of midas music for years.

things do change.. during the debut documentary, she became a bit too compeditive and not in a healthy way. more so because she trained for so long she knew she had to get a grip and get in the final line up. really she was scared she would fail and maybe actually make it time to retire the idol dream.

so that caught people's attention, that she would speak up and say stuff that sometimes was out of pocket and maybe rude, but hey... the enviroment wasn't the best ya feel. she doesn't really speak about the documentary unless forced to nowadays.

anyway, she has mellowed out infront of cameras and even behind the scenes, no more bark and bite, however she reverts to old habits when put under pressure by midas music or some tension has build up in haute pink.

she is very easy to forget, but not forgive and move on, to the point where its probably infuriating to others, but she doesn't care. she doesn't really... emotionally invest herself in a lot of things, because she is scared it will ruin thing in the long run. so with the pinks, she really just forgets bad situations have happened for the sake of working together better.

she went to therapy at one point because she just started shutting down during some days and going on autopilot and realized, that was bad. so therapy helped and she has been a lot better. some fans have noticed a different kind of spark to her.

she started vaping around that time as well, and maybe the nicotine helped but she doesn't do it often. again, if stress gets to her, old habits resurface.

the recent hate trains after her solo debut haven't helped either. to an extend she wants another solo out of spite, but she isn't sure. however, because of all the solo activities and promotions, jules has managed to show that she has really changed and matured since the early days of debut - especially her fans.

however, those closer to her can notice a change in attitude and shift in perspective with the approach of the contract renewal.

jules has been avoiding all of remedy like her life depended on it. for various reasons, but mainly because their leader could be quite close and she couldn't handle that. so, she stays away and avoids all of them, including the ones she would consider close. plus, she liked the remedy boys, she is quite close to a few of them, but when push comes to shove, she would take that step back if it meant she could have some peace of mind.. however much that some is, when you worked with them in the same building. yet, she never keeps to her rule at 100%, because rules are boring and she breaks a lot of them either way. why should she keep at her own, right?

so when she sees daon in the company cafe, she is quick to join him, even without a drink in hand. "daon!" she's bright, and loud, like always, smile wide on her lips as she pulls the chair across from him out, "can i join you?" she asks, waits for the greenlight before she sits down. it's always fun around daon, how can she not go bother him? well, spend a few minutes with him before getting herself her fourth coffee of the day and heading back on her marry way to the dance studios.

"i mean — why care? he didn't seem to care about you in the first place. so, why are you giving him this energy in return? tell him to fuck off, go fuck his best friend or something. seems like a no-brainer to me."

the cigarette that hits her face is enough to make her pause. mostly because of the shock as she looks at jaeyoon and pouts, frowns even. it bounced off and fell somewhere on the floor, so now she has to search for it and sighs softly. she llistens to him, almost reluctantly because he couldn't have just told her to shut up, no, he had to make a statement. she looks up at him for a second, eyes zooming on the cigarette he is pointing with, before going back to scanning the floor.

he has a point, a very good point, he always has points and jules hates that. not really, at times... "where the fuck did it go.." she swears under her nose as she gets out of her chair. its under the desk, she sees the cigarette and quickly snatches it before getting back in her seat "why care?" she repeats, but he is already telling her to go fuck her ex's best friend "i'm glad to know how you would fix that." cigarette pointing at him as she takes a sip from her coffee "imagine, i don't know, its been two years of nothing, you move on and are happy, life is great. and he has the audacity to reach out? in person?" she's appaled, almost angry-

she doesn't do angry, she reminds herself. what did she go to therapy for, right? "can i smoke here? if yes, can i borrow your lighter?" she doesn't know, isn't sure, she smokes outside, back alley, minty vapes which are probably worse than this. there is a story that jihan is destined to live in forever. it’s a bitter one, ripe with regret and longing—the happy ending stares him dead in the eyes, and he’s never ready for it. he turns away, the story flips back to page one; a hostile groundhog day situation, rinse and repeat.

he doesn’t avoid the inevitable anymore. he approaches jules with the confidence of a man who knows what’s good for him—a sober man, happy to see his friend. his first drink of the night is in hand, but he’s barely touched it yet - the descent has only just begun. to approach jules so early in the night is intentional. he knows he’ll be a wreck by the end of it, and he knows better than to drag her into his messes; he wants to show her the best of him, wants her to believe in it. he hopes that she leaves early.

“hey, you,” he greets, smiling in a way that he really only ever does with her. it’s the way that he used to smile, back when he was a naive trainee—all teeth and dimples. “you look great.” he thinks it’s a given—she’s a gorgeous girl, she always looks good, even at her worst—but he knows how she doubts herself. maybe it’s self-centered of him to think that a compliment from him would be wanted or needed, but he thinks it anyway.

she can't remember the last time she wa at an event like this. people and people keep appearing and speaking with her, new faces, familiar faces, face she hasn't seen in months, maybe years. it's almost overwhelming if jules wasn't used to being in situations like these. she is, afterall, an idol. these things should be easy for her and they are. her eyes catch someone, a few times, across the room but she can't approach, she will, she just needs to get away from everyone bombarding her with questions and welcomes, long time no sees even.

but then jihan moves closer than she expects and jules lights up, she knows she does because she does it all the time. "hi." she answers, all attention on him, smile so wide she is sure her make up will crease if she keeps it up. she doesn't care, her came to her even if its early on in the night "why thank you." she accepts the compliment, bowing politely. she's in a rather basic outfit for the night, a black mini dress with an open back and long sleeves and matching black heels, but its ysl, so at least there was that. "you look as good as always." she returns the compliment, giving jihan a good look from head to toe. he always looks good, she needs to tell him more. but then she gets asked how she feels, and her glass gets quickly brought to her lips, taking a large sip from the champagne.

"i'm okay" she starts, always okay despite having numerous occasions witnessed where she has been anything but okay "busy. loads of people want to talk." she explains, leans closer and lowers her voice because it didn't sound like the nicest thing to say loud. she's sure jihan will understand "it's still early, so i'm hoping it will calm down as the night goes." and she pulls back, nodding her head as if to assure herself "what about you? how are you feeling?"

jules was one of those cases. hard to forget because it was one of those times yerin was well and truly, unfair, immature. when she was a trainee, even when she was a rookie, it all extremes with yerin. her smiles were dipped in pink and gold, excited at the prospect of her life as it was, and really the only thing that got rid of it was— one, her members and their troubles and two, and this one was important (and embarrassing), losing at mario kart against jules.

how can someone beat her at everything, seriously? yerin had made at least an attempt when she was 18yo and brash to be normal about it. but the task was all but impossible. everything faded and her instincts trembled under the weight of her attitude every single time they played.

it's retribution that she's here now, all but bumping knees with jules, feeling giddy after being welcomed in with a hug no less.

"eh, because you know. i was so..." she pauses, her tone tamed a bit by the sheer breadth of embarrassment that turned it cool even with the liquid courage to level her out. "we hadn't talked in so long, you know? considering..." she stopped and started the sentence about 3 times, and she now follows it with a click of her tongue and defeated sigh. "because, well, i could hardly look you in the eye after all these years."

she comes out with it, like an adult, like one who is no longer a little baby who cries about losing to jules 5 matches in a row— she is, for the record, now an adult who would cry to losing to jules after at least 10 rounds these days, and then beg to be trained in the ways of the master.

jules was huge on forgiving.. or forgetting really, depends who you asked, but she has gotten better as the years passed and she matured and all that. therapy helped, but also, caring about things a little bit less was a big change in attitude and world view. not that she would say it out loud, but she was compeditive and people would see right through her when it came to that. even predebut with their debut survival show or whatever you want to call it, jules was known for being stubborn and ruthless.. netizens are the ruthless ones. she was just a teenage girl who spend almost half her life training for debut and she was not going to let it slip right through her fingers.

however, maybe she should have been nicer to yerin when they played mario kart but... it was mario kart, a silly little game where they were supposed to have fun and enjoy it and meet again- and they never did. and jules never reached out because she thought she had wronged yerin to the point where... there was no return. why would there be a return?

she listens to yerin as she speaks, eyes slowly moving all over her, watching her softly, because beneath all the rough edges and spite, jules likes to think she is soft and wants to share that with everyone she meets. so, yes. she regrets beating yerin five times in a roll at mario kart. she wouldn't have done it if she knew what that would cause. so she listens, nods her head and waits for yerin to find her words, she is no rush.

"it's fine, don't worry about it." she replies, smile tugging on the corners of her lips as she reaches for yerin's hand, giving it a quick but firm squeeze. "thank you for reaching out, even though its been a while. means a lot." her smile only grows and she feels like she herself is growing shy with it.

she was supposed to be chill about this and just enjoy her life. that's what she had been doing at least for the bigger portion of the last year and a bit. however, things never seem to go like she likes, and she ends up seeing and speaking with someone she wished to not have to see again. numerous reasons, but heartbreak is a thing and jules is petty. and upset. and she needs a distraction. or something.

that is exactly how she found herself in jaeyoon's company earlier in the day, a simple sample session, messing about with some songs and enjoy the afternoon. it was supposed to be like that.. if she had shut up for exactly 5 minutes since walking through the door. that was maybe an hour ago? an hour and a half probably and she had to go and get herself a drink, a coffee, iced americano. she comes back, a few minutes later.

"and you know what?" she continues, as if she hadn't left "he acts like nothing had happened, like everything is okay. can i talk with you? like we are best friends!" she doesn't get angry a lot, but she is on the path of bursting a vein from the stress she is causing herself.
