It’s been 3 years since the last tme I logged here, I don’t even know if someone will read this. However, I was struck by a mix of boredom and nostalgia, so I decided to log in, for some reason.
You know, I think Tumblr’s times are quite gone now, but it marked an era and a period of my life (I also used to make themes! This is how I learnt html and css and decided to study computer science), and I’m sure it’s more or less the same for you.
Maybe you aren’t even taking in consideration the possibility of deleting your blog, but maybe in the future you will. And if that moment comes, please recall this post and don’t do that! Maybe you’ll get struck by a mix of boredom and nostalgia (hopefully not seasoned by a global pandemic) and you’ll want to visit the blogs of your mutuals again.
Maybe, after 4 or 5 years you’ll want to know where eartheld, noizexx, noiziaz, oix, megakruemmel, renamonkalou. cedarly and all the other guys and gals went, how they’re doing and wonder what happened in their life in these years, you’ll wonder if they’re happy, if they had struggles, or if something important happened in their life.
You’ll find out that someone tried to get into digital art, someone graduated, someone else instead deleted their blog, someone started a new one with totally different content. Maybe someone left a goodbye message or their social media handles, someone else looks different than how they used to look like when you were active here on Tumblr. Hell, maybe someone is still posting 100 pics a day!
The feeling will be bittersweet. You’ll get a taste of how your teenage years felt like, you might look at your profile picture and go “wow I was 17 in that pic”, while now you’re almost 21, started completely different hobbies, survived terrible moments and experienced great emotions.
Because each of us, despite using Q+ to automate our posts like bots, are human beings and even though it might not seem clear, you’ll probably start to become attached to those familiar usernames, which hide beautiful people like you, people with dreams, fears and emotions.
