The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
Chinese proverb (via ahmed-urnotalone)
4-8yr Olds Describing Love.
Rebecca, age 8: When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.
Terri, age 4: Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.
Danny, age 7: Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.
Nikka, age 6: If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.
Elaine, age 5: Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.
Chris, age 7: Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.
Mary Ann, age 4: Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.
It is a mark of maturity when someone hurts you, and you try to understand them.
Such an underrated truth. (via pursuitofbeing)
this is pretty damn relevant for me right now.

and we are still fighting over minimum wage
And america tries to act so high and mighty. America needs to sit down and learn a thing or two from these other countries.
And yet we have people in congress who were born before women even had the right to vote
If it matters to you, it’s not stupid.

I am not the thought. I am not the thinker. I am only the witness.
His pledge to her:
i will kill the spiders. i will share my fries with you when you’ve finished all yours and are still hungry. i won’t ever pop my collar. i will never be rude to your tummy- when i hear it growl and gurgle. i promise to bend down and reply respectfully. i will eat the mushrooms when we order the supreme pizza. i will kiss the papercuts. and the door-slammed finger, and the counter-bumped hip. i’ll try my hardest not to get annoyed when you whisper questions and comments during movies. i will be the big spoon. i will let you win at wrestling, sometimes. other times i will not. i will go faster. harder. i will pull when you want. and tease you when you don’t. i will send you random texts and leave you silly gifts. not always. not on schedule. just whenever i want to. whenever i think you need one. or seven. i will check your tire pressure. and remind you to take your car in. i will hold your hand. i will love you. i will love you. i will love you.
Learn to put on your bracelets and zip up your dresses by yourself. There will be times when you will be alone. Get on a long plane ride. Look out the window. Understand the immensity of our world. Understand your insignificance. Understand your absolute importance. Press the send button. If you don’t say it now, you never will. Do not sneer at happiness or roll your eyes at sadness. Be aware that apathy is not healthy. You are more than the amount of people who want to have sex with you. That pit in your stomach when he doesn’t text you back, it shouldn’t be there. No one should be able to control you like that. Shopping is cathartic. Buy the shoes and deal with one-ply toilet paper for a while. It will get better, but it will never be perfect. Learn to live through the small moments of happiness. When they disappear, remember they will resurface. I promise that cookie will not change anything (except that it will make you smile). Please, please, take care of yourself. You are everything to somebody. You are everything to your self. That alone is enough.
things to remember (via bl-ossomed)
So what is a woman that has had numerous sex partners within a week? Just a sexual woman?
what is a woman who likes to read mystery novels? what is a woman whose favorite color is purple? what is a woman who likes carrot cake? what is a woman who likes to travel?
we don’t ask those questions because they seem frivolous and irrelevant. but for some reason we collectively as a society are obsessed with labeling and demeaning women on the basis of their sexuality.
i personally find labeling a woman on the basis of her sexuality as silly as labeling a woman on the basis of whether or not she likes scarves would be.
does it truly matter?
This is what happens when we hold dick up to be some transformatory thing
Because apparently a woman who likes sex needs her own special fucking category of subhumanity or some shit.
She’s a woman. That’s IT.
I will never not reblog this gif set whenever it comes across my dash.
Whores’ Glory (Dir. Michael Glawogger, 2011)
I remember watching this documentary (twice, actually) and sobbing uncontrollably. This scene really hit me because she let these words out reluctantly. She was silent and then said “wait, I have something to say.” We often forget that not everybody is just “accustomed” to their circumstances and that some people are just “built” to endure these hardships. They too suffer and they too want a way out.
To anyone dealing with relationship bs, read this
This.
So much this.
thaaaaaaaaankyou. Finally someone said it.
We’re all going to die, all of us, what a circus. That alone should make us love each other, but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing.
Charles Bukowski (via purplebuddhaproject)
Ergh. Sometimes I feel like i dont want to live here anymore.
