In the back of a school bus is when I first heard him Someone played Eruption on a boom box

I was captivated by the sound Is this a piano I thought out loud?

There is no way this craziness is being produced by a guitar To say I was blown away is an understatement

Soon after I purchased my first cassette, 1984 which began my love affair with the Mighty Van Halen

We would lip synch “Jump” and “Panama”

Still crank “Drop Dead Legs, “Top Jimmy” and “Girl Gone Bad” to this day

I would air guitar as if my life depended on it. Even converted a tennis racket to look like his “Frankenstein” guitar!

This band, this man was the catalyst in living my dream of being in a rock and roll band. Something I never thought could happen for me.

All of his technical innovations The countless albums (Roth or Hagar) Van Halen will live on forever

Tonight my neighbors must give me a pass as I will play VH all the way to 11
